Dear VAES Families,
It’s hard to believe that we are only a week away from our Fall Break (October 8 – 12)!!  August and September have flown by! For the past few weeks, our Kindergarten – Third grade students have been going on field experiences and listening to guest experts as they dive deeper into their 1st trimester projects.  Field experiences (field trips) and guest experts are key component in Project Based Learning (PBL) and are a part of the elementary project work curriculum.

Hello to all Middle School families,
This week was a very interesting week!  There were storms, lots of rain, and delayed openings.  Even with heavy rain, tornado warnings, and fire drills, our students and staff remained focused on the tasks at hand!  Students were amazing during the warnings and drills. Voyager Academy Care (after/before school) Program News, Sept. 9, 2018

Before/After Care News
The year is starting off great and we continue to be excited! Students are enjoying their time in after school. Each day we have age-appropriate fun activities planned for the students, which they enjoy after homework and reading time is complete.  Students with online homework assignments are provided with chrome books to complete those assignments. The students have not had the opportunity to visit the library as of yet, so it will be helpful if students bring a book from home to read each day for 20 minutes during after school.

Thanks everyone for another great week!  We wanted to give you a small progress report on our new VIKING STADIUM!  I’m sure you noticed more trucks and work going on last weeks and things are beginning to move! Please be patient as we work to bring you all this amazing new stadium that we will use for PE, Care, Camp, Sports, Graduation, Homecoming, Parades, Special Events, Spring Fling and MORE!

Voyager Academy Elementary School News, September 2, 2018

Dear VAES Families,

It’s hard to believe that we have finished our fourth week of school!  For the past few weeks, students and staff have been discussing their hopes and dreams for the school year.  This helps our community of learners
get excited about what we will learn and also makes a personal connection.  By inviting students (and staff) to name their hopes and dreams (learning goals) for the year shows them that they are valued members of the classroom, that school is a safe place, and that we have a lot of fun and challenging learning to do this year. Creating a tone of trust and respect is one of the most important things we do at the beginning of the year.  Here are a couple of links explaining in more detail about Hopes and Dreams.

Voyager Academy Middle School News, September 2, 2018

Dear VAMS Families,

Can you believe that we have been in school one month?  It certainly does not seem like it! This year’s opening has been one of the smoothest yet!  This week in 8th grade Core Connections, the students worked on their periodic table. The students in 7th grade math were learning about integers and positive and negative numbers.  During my visit to 5th grade science, the students were discussing the importance of CO2 and O2.  My Spanish visit was in fourth grade and I was amazed at the Spanish vocabulary that has been learned in such a short time.  Finally, in fourth grade math, Ms. Vurnakes was teaching rounding and place value. The students were working four digit numbers to  seven digit numbers. I hope your children are sharing all their knowledge with you.
