From the Managing Director's Desk, Aug. 25, 2019

Dear Viking Families,

Thank you all so much for joining us on Monday evening for our Viking Stadium ribbon cutting! It was a wonderful event and we could not have been prouder of the work and patience it took to get there! Most importantly, we are incredibly happy to see all our students enjoy the field during PE, recess, practice and competitions. We can’t wait to see the community that this home stadium brings for us and look forward to many wonderful events and memories taking place on campus.

From the Voyager Academy Board, Aug. 26, 2019

Hello from VAES!
We continue to work hard, both students and staff, to ensure students are our first focus and that the focus is on safety and learning.  We are so grateful to all of you who comply with our requests about car line procedures.  When a few don’t follow through, it is off-setting to those who are following the routines.  I apologize for their rudeness and encourage you to remain on the high road and to continue serving as an example to others and especially your children.

Voyager Academy Athletics News, Aug. 25, 2019

It has been an amazing week here at Voyager for all of with the opening and ribbon cutting on our beautiful new multi-purpose stadium.  We would like to thank everyone who took the time to come and be a part of this celebration with us. It was awesome to see the faces of our families and members of the community as we cut the ribbon and hosted the first round of the Bull City Cup.  Thanks again to all who have played a role and also to our sponsors, El Rodeo, North Durham Orthodontics (Dr. Gina Lee), EmergeOrtho, and Chick-Fil-A Roxboro Rd., who play such a huge role in allowing us to use athletics as a way to teach our students outside of the classroom.

Voyager Academy Middle School News, Aug. 18, 2019

Dear VAMS Families,
What a smooth opening this has been!  I’ve been very proud of our students and the work they have completed.  I have visited the classrooms and I continue to be amazed by the quality of lessons our teachers provide our students.  Please take a few minutes to have your Viking share what he/she is learning in each of theclasses. I also encourage you to ask your Viking about our Core Values and how he/she displayed confidence, empathy, integrity, reflection, and curiosity this week.

Voyager Academy Care (after/before school) Program News, Aug. 18, 2019

Care Program & Enrichments Newsletter
Students had a wonderful time this week in early/ after care. Many of the students still have not been assigned homework, so our staff prepares age appropriate academic activities for the students. Aftercare is a time where we focus on whole child development by introducing students to new age appropriate activities that encourage team work and good sportsmanship. Below are pictures of some of our second graders learning how to play the classic card game, UNO, and learning to play a new gym game! In the coming newsletters, we hope to share more pictures  of our other grade group activities!

Dear Viking Families,
Good afternoon! We hope that you all had a wonderful first week as we did! We thank you all so much for following our directions related to safety and arrival/dismissal to help get our children on and off campus safely and quickly.  The start of the year already gave us time to practice our sever weather drills and protocols 😊 As we enter week two, please remember to ask your children at the end of the day what they learned and how you can help at home.  We are exciting for this new year and look forward to jumping right into our work. At the end of last year, all staff had an intensive training in Project Based Learning to focus on the mission and vision of our school.

Voyager Academy Elementary School News Aug. 11, 2019

I can’t begin to put into words how great this week has been for me, our staff and students!

Our teachers worked all through the summer to prepare for the return of our children. Their rooms are clean thanks to our wonderful Mr. Robert Frye.  During the summer and workdays, teachers brought in new rugs, new decorations, prepared bulletin boards, hung instructional materials and all the other necessities to guarantee a smooth opening.

Voyager Academy Middle School News, Aug. 11, 2019

Dear VAMS Families,
Wow, the first four days of school were terrific!  It was exciting to see all of our students both “old and new”! I am so very proud of how our students returned to school – ready to learn, as well as, displaying proper school behavior.  Many of our students have exhibited our Core Values which are: Confidence, Empathy, Integrity, Reflection, and Curiosity. I can tell 2019-2020 is going to be a fantastic school year!

Voyager Academy Care (after/before school) Program, Aug. 11, 2019

Care Program Updates
WOW! We’ve gotten through week 1 of school and it has been AMAZING! This summer, the Care Program Team spent time earning certificates in “Basic School Age Care,” and “Interactive Games and Character Education.” We are continuing to be very strategic about the activities and interactions that we encourage during after school hours. We have a diverse group of people who LOVE kids and ENJOY finding ways to help them develop socially, emotionally, and academically. Here are some candid photos of the staff in our trainings!
