From the Voyager Academy Managing Director, Aug. 28, 2020

Dear Voyager Community,

It’s been another wonderful week of learning, playing, and growing together for our students and school-wide K-12 community.  The leadership team and staff greatly appreciate all the positive support and feedback we have received from our students and families as we navigate the new educational landscape together. We are now three weeks into the remote learning environment and have been assessing our plans for moving forward as promised during our town hall meetings earlier this summer.  Please be assured that our greatest desire is to re-open our campus and have our entire school community return to our normal learning environment. We all miss seeing the children in our classrooms and the joy they bring to each of us. We understand the challenges and stresses that this health pandemic and uncertainty has caused for many of our families. While we pivot during these times of uncertainty, we remain steadfast as we continue to focus and prioritize the health and safety of your children, our staff, and our greater Voyager community while we continue to provide an excellent education for all remotely.

Hello Middle School Families,

Wow, I cannot believe we have completed 3 weeks of remote learning!  This has been challenging for all of us and I must say all of you are handling it quite well.  The leadership team wants to hear from all of you regarding screen time and remote learning.  You will receive a survey with a small number of questions regarding screen time, scheduling and time in class.  PLEASE make sure you complete the survey and please answer all the questions.  Again, there are only a few questions.

Dear Voyager Community,

What an incredible school opening! The first two weeks have flown by so quickly. Together, your children and our team of highly qualified educators have made the kickoff to the 2020 – 2021 school year simply amazing. Teachers have started to build bonds within their learning community through many fun team building and morning meeting activities.  It has been a joy to join in and observe their online learning sessions and see how quickly they have made connections with their students and started to facilitate deep learning in their remote classrooms.  Another highlight for me personally this week was leading a 1st grade morning meeting and sharing a little about me and my family and reading to the class. We recognize and empathize with the challenges remote learning has placed on many families as we all navigate and balance work and family. Thank you for your continued support and flexibility.

VAES Families,

Welcome:  Welcome to a whole new world of learning!  We have begun this year in an amazing way.  Our teachers are excited and ready to teach and our students are eager and willing to learn.  Thank you to every family who has worked so diligently to ensure every student has academic, social, and emotional success.  I have been able to meet many of the students via their morning Zoom meeting and hope to meet every student within the next two weeks.  Voyager Academy is an amazing place of learning and I appreciate the students displaying our core values of Confidence, Empathy, Integrity, Reflection, and Curiosity.

Hello Middle School Families,

Wow, what a different learning environment we are in!  It reminds me of the Disney song “A Whole New World!”  Even with all the differences and Remote Learning, our teachers continue to plan lessons that create an environment in which our students want to learn and participate.  I’ve popped into several classes and I see excited and engaged students.  Even though it is virtual, it’s great to see their smiling faces. We will continue to focus on academics, along with the social and emotional components.  We want to include our core values throughout our day: Confidence, Empathy, Integrity, Reflection, and Curiosity.  These values along with the academics will help develop well-rounded students.

Dear Voyager Community.

Welcome to the 2020 – 2021 school year! We are all very excited to connect remotely with your children on Monday, August 10, 2020, which is our first day of the new school year. The Voyager staff and leadership team have been preparing for the exciting year ahead throughout the summer and are eager to greet students virtually.  Our staff has been participating in professional development to further enhance their skill set with remote learning platforms to ensure student success.  Please be assured that during our remote learning environment, we are holding all students and staff accountable for the academic, social, and emotional programs that are expected during in-person instruction.  Lesson plans, projects, attendance, and grading will be similar to what is experienced during in-person instruction.  We also understand that each family may have unique challenges and we will partner with you to ensure that all have an enriching educational experience that aligns with our vision, mission, and core values.  Please remember that your Voyager family is here to support your needs as we partner together in the year ahead.
