Hello Middle School Families,

Oh my, what cold weather we have had the past couple of weeks. For those of you who live in the counties receiving lots of ice, I have certainly had you on my mind.  I know how challenging it is to have no power along with no heat.  Hopefully most of you have had your power restored.

Dear Voyager Community,

What an action packed week here at Voyager! It was so wonderful to see the children and families at our drive through “Share the Love” events held on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  This was a great opportunity for our team to connect with students and families and share smiles before the return to in-person instruction in March. Voyager staff were out in full force to cheer for our students and share valentine’s greetings, candy, and goodies. We are also so very grateful for the donations and outpouring support for our canned food drive for the Interfaith Food Pantry.  Thank you for brightening our week and for supporting families through the Interfaith Food Pantry. We are also appreciative of the families that attended the Durham Cooperative Extension Parent Engagement night that was held on Thursday evening sponsored by Student Services.

Dear Voyager Community,

Happy February to all of our Vikings!  I’m quite happy not to have 30 inches of snow like some of our family in NJ, but I’m really hoping we don’t have 6 more weeks of winter. During February we are celebrating Black History Month and recognizing and highlighting the accomplishments and contributions from black leaders, innovators, and world changers. Below the newsletter are the links to the Black History month programs offered by Student Support, the Elementary School, Middle School, and the High School. I hope you all had the chance to hear Amanda Gorman, the United States' first-ever youth poet laureate, recite a powerful poem she wrote at the inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. If not, check out this powerful poetry performance and share it with your children.

Voyager Academy Middle School News, Feb. 5, 2021

 Hello Middle School Families,

Can you believe it is February?  It’s hard to believe that we will soon be in Quarter 4.  It’s really important that our students finish strong.  As we have a few weeks left  in the third quarter, I suggest you check PowerSchool to see if your middle school student(s) have any missing assignments.  I met with several parents and students this week and during each conversation we learned the students had missing assignments along with assignments that are submitted but with no completed work.  It only takes a few missing assignments to drop a B grade to a D grade or lower.  PLEASE talk to your middle schooler regarding completion of work!
