April 23, 2021

Dear Voyager Community,

It seems crazy that next week is May already. We are preparing for all the end of year programs, testing, summer enrichment, and camp opportunities.  Our students, teachers, and staff continue to work hard in the classroom as they close out the 2020-2021school year with a strong finish. As I walked through the elementary school this week our students were engaged in deep learning about reading strategies, identifying homophones, and learning how to paint a portrait. Middle School students were practicing their Spanish, creating weavings in art, learning about equations and fractions, and how to find evidence while reviewing a text passage. Our high school students were focused on quadratic equations, geology, and learning about how to protect the coral reef, while others were singing their hearts out.  Hands on science experiments are also underway as students learned about dissection and natural selection. We are all so happy to have the students in class and actively engaged in their learning.

Dear Voyager Community,

Students, teachers, and staff continue to work hard to reach academic, social, and emotional learning goals for the year.  It was an exciting week on campus with lots of activity. Thank you to all the families that attended the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion night, “You Belong at Voyager”. There was a lot of great conversation and ideas for the future.  Middle School Assistant Principal, Richie Mitchell, is spearheading a new committee to further the work on diversity, equity, and inclusion.  Reach out to him directly if you are interested in getting involved.

Spring is here and things are looking beautiful.  This week we have celebrated EARTH DAY and tried to determine if more students like the beach or the mountains.  My vote goes for the mountains!  We are thankful for our Voyager families and we are glad YOU are partnering with us as we seek to develop independent, life-long learners.  The following announcements will be helpful for you and your family for the week of April 26-30.

Dear Voyager Community,

What a wonderful week having all in-person students back on campus this week! I also enjoyed watching our MS soccer game and HS Volleyball team play for a senior night celebration. All school buildings are filled with energy, learning, and joy. Teachers and staff are so excited to be back together. The Hock Media Center was also filled with the joyful noise of children. Classes have started visiting the library and students are selecting books that pique their interest to further their reading skills. Our EC Middle School students in Mrs. Allen’s class were also at the Hock House on Thursday learning about cooking skills and are pictured below. We look forward to having our remote learners return for the 21-22 school year.

Dear Voyager Community,

Happy spring to everyone!  Hopefully, the warmer weather returns for our spring break next week. School will be closed during spring break from April 2, 2021 through April 11, 2021. Spring is in the air on campus and our teachers have incorporated project based learning experiences to support student growth and engagement. Our EC Middle School students in Mrs. Allen’s class have planted strawberry patches as part of the science program.  We can’t wait to watch them grow.
