From the Voyager Academy Managing Director, Sept. 24, 2021

Dear Voyager Community,

Fall has arrived on campus and the kids are enjoying the outdoors at lunch, PE class, and recess.  We had another exciting week of learning and growing on campus and demonstrating our core values. I had the opportunity to see a class debate in English, view students researching Native American tribes and creating a presentation in Social Students, see 3D printed student designs from the Computer Models and Physical structures classes, and watch the HS Volleyball team compete. Voyager really showed our true colors on Wednesday with a “Purple Out” day sponsored by the High School Student Council. The campus was a sea of purple to raise awareness and demonstrate our support for student, Layla Sawyer, and teacher, Laura McGinnis, who are fighting cancer. What an incredible demonstration of empathy and concern for our school community. Voyager is truly a special community!

Fall is in the air and great things are happening at Voyager Academy.  We have been polling the students this week to determine what fall activities they like best.  Hiking, playing in the leaves and roasting marshmallows are the top three options.  I hope you and your family are able to complete one of those activities during this month.  The following updates will be helpful for you and your family for the week of Sept. 27 - October 01.

Voyager Academy Middle School News, Sept. 24, 2021

Hi all,

We’ve had a great week at the middle school!  Our students are beginning to get back in the groove of school. Yes, it has taken some time as staying at home had some of our students thinking they were still at home.  Thanks for your continued support of our teachers and our students!

From the Voyager Academy Managing Director, Sept. 17, 2021

Dear Voyager Community,

It was a great week at school as our students continue to shine and work hard.  Students are learning important life skills as they demonstrate critical thinking and collaboration while they work on projects and classroom activities. Walking through classrooms our students are engaged in their lessons and focused on their learning goals.  It’s hard to believe we are halfway through the first quarter already.

Voyager Academy Elementary School News, Sept. 17, 2021

Today is a great day at Voyager Academy.  Our students have settled in at school and are beginning to understand it is our job to TEACH and it is their job to LEARN.  We are so excited that everyone is trying so hard to do their job well.  The following announcements will be helpful for you and your family for the week of Sept. 20-24.

Voyager Academy Middle School News, Sept. 17, 2021

Hi all,

Oh my, it is already September 17th!  The beginning of the year has been a little different because many of our students have been  thinking they were still at home and feel they do not have to follow school rules and procedures.  For example, students do not need to bring their cell phone to school as it is not needed at school.  If they absolutely have to bring their phone, the phone needs to be turned off and in their bookbag.  I ask that you talk with your child regarding his or her cell phone.  I also ask that you not text your child during the school day. We are also finding that some of our students feel they should be able to use their computer in any way they want.  Playing games in class, logging onto sites, and chatting via text with friends during class  are all unacceptable behavior.  The students need to be focused and ready to learn and participate in class each and every day.  I ask for your help in reinforcing the appropriate behaviors during the school day. Thank you as we want our students to be ready for the next grade level!!!!!

Dear Voyager Community,

It’s been another action packed week here on campus.  Our students and staff are working well together on their learning goals during the first quarter.  The student support team are another resource dedicated to helping our students grow socially and emotionally.  They have planned an important parent enrichment night so that you can get to know the team, understand how they can support your child, and share important information about suicide awareness. The Parent Night will be held remotely on September 15th.  Additional details are below the newsletter.

Hi all,

Today is the day that all of you are invited to check your child’s PowerSchool Account. It’s mid-quarter for Quarter One.  It’s also “Progress Report Day.”  At the Middle School we do not send home a paper Progress Report.  We ask you to review your child’s grades in PowerSchool along with checking to see if your child has completed and turned in all assignments.   Please make sure you are checking PowerSchool regularly not just on Progress Report day so you will not be surprised at Report Card time. The majority of our students have completed and turned in their assignments but some of our students have decided that completing their work and turning it in is not important.  So please check your child’s PowerSchool Account!

Dear Voyager Community,

Wow, it is hard to believe that it's September already. The sunshine and cooler weather is a welcome treat for our students and staff to enjoy outdoor lunch and learning. The learning across the buildings is in full swing for students and teachers. Pictured below are the high school zoology students dissecting a squid and a middle school student’s creative sunflower artwork. It was also wonderful to see our first home soccer game on the turf against Franklin Academy.  Our Vikings held strong to end the game in a 0-0 draw.

Voyager Academy Elementary School News, Sept. 3, 2021

We have completed another week of learning at Voyager Academy.  I have had the joy of hosting morning meetings with our 1st grade classes this past week and I will be hosting morning meetings with the kindergarten classes this coming week.  Be sure to ask them about the book entitled, “A Very Fine School” by Sharon Creech.  The following announcements will be helpful to you and your family for the week of September 6-10.

Voyager Academy Middle School News, Sept. 3, 2021

Wow, I continue to be impressed with our students and our staff.  The staff goes above and beyond with the lessons that they prepare for our students. Our students have put forth much effort to do their best during their instructional time.   Please make sure you are checking PowerSchool to see if all of your child’s assignments have been completed and submitted whether it be in Google Classroom or a different way at the teacher’s request.
