This week we were fortunate to have members of the Poe Center in

Raleigh come to Voyager and talk with our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade

students about the danger of Vaping. Our students were  great

and were very interested in the presentation.  I think our students

learned alot and hopefully will not start vaping!

         Student BATHROOMS

Thanks to all of you who talked with your Viking(s) about the

bathrooms as this week was much, much better!  If you would

Please remind them about the use of bathrooms and what

should not be done!  Again, thanks for your continued help

and support.  I appreciate you!      Gwen

UPDATE FROM SCHOOL NURSE:  Our CDC COVID-19 Community Level is: Low

  • **Masks are continued to be worn indoors and that is great and symptoms of illness, COVID-19 testing is highly recommended

  • People with a positive test for COVID-19 MUST wear a mask for 10 days.

  • People with symptoms or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should wear a mask.

Our students did a great job with the trivial questions and a great job with the Black History Program!!!!!!!

We have been excited that our Student Council has been providing Black History Trivia questions!  Our Student Council has been fantastic with the trivia questions.  We have also had lots of students submitting an answer to the trivial question.   We have all learned lots. We also have students who have created a Black History Program to share with other students as it is a celebration and will spotlight songs, dance, and poetry.

Just another reminder!!!!!

PARKING SPACES

Please do not park in one of the numbered parking spaces.  All of the spaces that are numbered are for the staff.  The spaces at the MS are in front of the MS, in front of the soccer field, in front of the Hock House and around the edge of the pond.  The space may be empty when you arrive but remember the spaces are for the staff even if they have not arrived before you have arrived.  Thanks so much for not parking in the numbered spaces. !

Attendance Info

Help,  the attendance committee will meet on Tuesday and  we will be contacting some of you regarding students not being in school and/or getting to school late.  When your child is sick, please email us so we will know why your student is absent or send a doctor’s note. Several of you received an email or a call regarding your child’s lateness and/or absences. We recognize that many of our students have been sick and we understand why they are not at school.  It is helpful if you send a note regarding attendance or send a doctor’s note if possible.  If we do not hear from you we usually mark it unexcused.

Student Support Services Newsletter: If you haven’t already, please check out our first edition of “Connections” (link below) - your new, quarterly Student Support Services Newsletter! Connections will provide parents and caregivers with relevant content focused around our school-aged children (K-12). Afterwards, we welcome you to complete a short survey to let the Student Support Services Team know how we can improve Connections or if we met your needs in a satisfactorily manner. Your feedback is important to us!

CAR LINE REMINDER:  I want to remind everyone that it is very important to strive to follow all car line procedures so that we keep everyone safe.  If we all would just follow procedures, the carline would run even smoother and more quickly.  Recently, we have had an issue with cars not waiting in the car line and trying to get back in the line at the road between the elementary school and the high school.  We have now placed our SRO at this location to help remind everyone of the importance of staying in line and waiting their turn.  We also have parents who are being rude to each other in hopes to move one position.  PLEASE be kind to each other!!!!!

We  need our 6th, 7th and 8th graders to bring their laptop daily to school charged and ready.

MONDAY’S SCHEDULE:  Each and every Monday, Voyager will dismiss students at 1:15 pm.  Since our staff attend meetings every Monday, it is imperative that students are picked up on time.

We are so excited to have Mr. Sweed Dalton back at the Middle School. Mr. Dalton is working with our 8th graders who need some extra support in Math.  Mr. Dalton will certainly have the students working and learning.

NCDHHS COVID-19 Response Update (Zoom)

3/22/23, 1:00pm

Declared Public Health Emergency ends May 11, 2023

It is not the END of COVID. The end of PHE marks the transition. Moving forward, COVID-19 will be treated as a regular respiratory illness much like influenza, strep throat, etc.

COVID may be ramping down, but it’s important to remember that ⅔ of North Carolinians are still at high risk for severe illness from COVID-19.

NCDHHS has no updates as of now if changes in required isolation period, masking, reporting for COVID will occur. Wait and see approach for new guidance as the country/governments gets closer to the end of PHE. It’s likely that 5-days required isolation and masking may ease after the emergency period concludes. But NCDHHS does not know this at this time.

High Risk Populations:

  • Asthma COPD

  • Diabetes

  • Heart disease including high blood pressure

  • People of color

  • Age >50

RESOURCE RAMP DOWN TIMELINE:

  • Ramp down starting March 31, 2023

  • Distribution of COVID test kits ends June 30th. Warehouse supply of state test kit expiration dates range from July to December 2023.

Great News. Summer enrichment is here. Registration is open now open until April 14th. The process will look a little different from Fall and Spring enrichment sign up. Enrichments will be offered Monday through Thursday for 3 weeks during  the month of June.  Beginning June 5th and ending June 22nd.  There will be 3 different session times offered depending on the individual enrichment. There will be a google form used to register for each individual enrichment. Each enrichment must meet the minimum number of participants before payment will be assigned in Titan. You will receive an email letting you know that your student is being placed on the roster, based on a first come first served basis. You will have until April 14th to make the payment. If your payment is not made your spot will be forfeited and will be given to the next student. Please go to our website to see a full description of each enrichment.

The Titan Family Portal and LINQ Online Ordering system work together like a checking/ debit card account.  All student lunch accounts must be preloaded with funds for ordering.  Parents then order lunches for students based on the funds availability in their Titan account. Families who have a negative balance on the account will no longer be permitted to order lunch online. Please be sure to send your student(s) to school with lunch if no meal was ordered. If your student's lunch account currently has a negative balance, we please ask that you pay this balance as soon as possible by either form of payment:

Online at  https://family.titank12.com  There is a $2.80 flat fee charged by the bank per deposit online. (Example: $100 deposit + $2.80 fee = $102.80)

A check/ money order made payable to Voyager Academy. Please include your child's name and id# on the memo line. You can also use this pre-printed form.
