VAHS Theatre Department Mattress Sale Fundraiser
If you or someone you know is looking to replace a bed in your home, now is the time. Voyager Academy Anastasia Performance & Dance Night 2024 are excited to announce they will be hosting a one-day Mattress Fundraiser on Saturday, February 24th, from 10am - 4pm. There will be 25+ different styles of beds on display for customers to try. The brand name mattresses are made to order, have full factory warranties, are available in all sizes, and are priced below retail. In addition to beds, there will also be luxury pillows, mattress protectors, adjustable power bases and even massage chairs!! Delivery and financing are available. The “Next Step” Career Exploration Program for Juniors
The College Foundation of NC (CFNC) Next Step 2024 program will be available February 19th through May 31st for all NC high school juniors and parents! The program is designed for Juniors to: share their plans and needs, Connect with NC colleges, and join the online program to take steps toward achieving their college or workforce/career goals. A link will be provided on February 19, 2024 to all Juniors and their Parents/guardians so they can take the next steps to enroll in this program. To prepare, students can create a CFNC account and check out the Next Steps Overview at https://www.cfnc.org/next-step-program/

A new March Driver's Ed class has been added to the spring class schedule for non-DPS students attending school in Durham County.
Registration is via the DPS website. The portal opens at 9:00 am on the dates listed.

Any rising 11th and 12th grade student with a 2.75 GPA is eligible to take free dual enrollment classes through the CCP (Career and College Promise) program.

HBCU Showcase and Community Resource Fair
Bull City In Black: HBCU Showcase and Community Resource Fair celebrates the history and enduring legacy of historically black colleges and universities form across the state and region. On Saturday February 17, The Emily K Center will host representatives and student organizations from HBCUs and community organizations with a focus on mental health and wellness. The event id free and high school students and families are encouraged to attend.

Meredith College Leadership Conference for High School Juniors
Meredith College offers an annual women's leadership conference for high school juniors who are interested in developing and sharpening their leadership skills. The Meredith College Office of Student Leadership and Service, in conjunction with the Office of Admissions, will host this free conference on Saturday, February 24, 2024.

STEM Opportunity for High School Sophomores AT NCSU
NCSU SATELLITE is a five-day STEM outreach and leadership development program with the goal of exposing high school sophomores from under-resourced communities in North Carolina to post-secondary educational opportunities in STEM and its many disciplines. SATELLITE Campers have had the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of activities including a field trip to the Museum of Natural Sciences, an egg drop competition, plant biology seminars, workshops in paper science engineering, textiles and design, game theory, and hands-on life sciences demonstrations led by genuine NC State faculty and students. SATELLITE’s mission is fueled by our desire and passion to help close the higher educational divide among communities through equitable opportunities and exposure.

Curious About Careers? Check Out The ASVAB Career Exploration Program 2/19/24
The ASVAB CEP promotes career literacy through personalized career exploration, awareness of career-field entry requirements, and future-oriented planning tools that help students develop an action plan they can share with parents and educators. The ASVAB CEP is about understanding options. The ASVAB, just one part of the ASVAB CEP, assesses academic ability and predicts success in a variety of career fields. Offering a unique opportunity for all students to learn about themselves, whether they're interested in pursuing postsecondary education, work-based learning, or the Military. The Department of Defense sponsors the ASVAB CEP with a two-part mission: to provide a career exploration service to American youth and provide qualified leads to Military recruiters. Participants have no obligation to talk to a Military recruiter or enter Military service. However, students in 11th grade and beyond can use their scores to consider enlistment.
