Voyager Food Drive A Huge Success

Voyager Food Drive was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who donated, spread the word, and/or helped out in any other way. So many people will benefit from your generosity, and this event is a great example of the power of community, of what people can do when they come together. Remember that one small action can make a huge difference in someone's life, and, again, thank you all for your contributions these past few weeks!

Thanks,

Aidan Daly

Share the Love! Voyager Holiday Giving Program

Hello Vikings!

The Voyager community has a tradition of helping those in need during the holiday season. This year, Student Support Services at the middle and high schools are working together to coordinate anonymous gifts for families in need in the form of gift cards. (Our elementary team is coordinating gifts for those students separately). For our families at the middle and high school, the most popular requests for gift card locations include Wal-Mart, Target, Amazon, and Food Lion. If you would like to give, please use the following link to sign up.

Thank you so much for thinking of others during this season. If you have any questions, please reach out to any member of the Student Support Services Team.

Seniors: Submit your Senior Quote For The Year Book

Congratulations Seniors! You are well on your way to graduation. As part of celebrating your accomplishments, you have the opportunity to provide a senior quote to accompany your formal senior portrait in the 2026 VAHS Expedition yearbook.

Please understand that senior quotes are a privilege, not a right. Your quote must be approved by the yearbook staff, adviser, and VAHS administration.

Senior quote guidelines:

  • Maximum of 140 characters
  • Must be school appropriate (no slang, no foul language, no innuendos or double meanings)
  • If you use a quote from someone else, you MUST give credit to the creator.
  • Must be in English.
  • No offensive statements towards race, religion, sexuality, etc.

Mock Trial Dress Rehearsal

If you would like to watch the dress rehearsal for our Honors Mock Trial team (as they prepare for their regional competition in Feb), please join us on Tues. Dec. 2nd in the Voyager PAC during 3rd Period (12:30-2:08). They will be performing their roles as attorneys, witnesses, and timekeepers in a medical malpractice case.

DRIVERS ED: Non-DPS Student Registration & Class Information

To enroll in the Drivers Education class, a student will need to have a personal gmail email account (not a school account). If the student does not already have one, it is very advantageous to set this up a personal gmail account prior to registration.

More information can be found at: https://www.dpsnc.net/o/dps/page/non-dps-student-registration

FAFSA Tips For College Bound Seniors

Get your FSA IDs: Both parents and students need to create a Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID. It’s basically a  secure, online signature for the FAFSA.

Tackle the paperwork dragon: The FAFSA might be easier now, but it still requires some prep. Gather your documents. You’ll need to know your bank account balances and the net worth of any businesses or investments. You don’t have to report the value of your primary home or your retirement accounts (like 401(k)s and IRAs). Knowing what to leave out is just as important as knowing what to put in

The Direct Data Exchange: This is a tool inside the FAFSA that automatically moves your PPY (Prior, Prior Year) tax information from the IRS into the FAFSA. You will sign an agreement giving your approval for this transfer of information. Just follow the prompts when you are completing the FAFSA.

The early bird gets the aid at some schools: The FAFSA opened on October 1st. Some state and college aid is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Once that money is gone, it’s gone. Filing early gives your student the best possible chance at getting all the aid they’re eligible for.

Don’t give up! You can appeal: Maybe your financial situation changed a lot after that PPY year. If you can show them what’s different, they might be able to adjust your student’s aid. It’s a bit of extra work, but it’s definitely worth a shot.

Start your FAFSA applications today!

NC College Connect

Congratulations to the VAHS seniors who have earned eligibility for the NC College Connect program.  https://www.cfnc.org/nc-college-connect/. NC College Connect is a program that provides a simpler and faster way for students with a weighted 2.8 or higher to get admitted to college in North Carolina. Eligible seniors should have received a letter from the College Foundation of NC (CFNC) with a list of colleges and universities that they have been offered admission through the program. Information about next steps is included in the letter and at the website listed above. The Attached PowerPoint is also a great resource.
Please contact VAHS School Counselor, Jill O'Kane if there are additional questions.
