Afternoon Pick-up Alert

Please be aware that students are not to be dropped off, nor picked up at any of the properties across Ben Franklin Blvd.  This is private property, not a public road, and we have received complaints from those businesses.  Also, please be aware that carline wait-time has decreased significantly since the beginning of the year.

Please help Voyager Academy to be good neighbors.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Seniors: Painted Parking Spots

A senior tradition and privilege is to paint your parking spot. Painting dates are Sept 26th 10am-4pm, Sept 27th 10am-3pm, and Sept 29th 2:15-5pm. Payment, contract, and approved design must be completed by Sept 22nd. Information and contract is posted outside Mrs. Higdon's door B133. Contact Mrs. Higdon (thigdon@voyageracademy.net) for details, contract and questions.

North Carolina Governor's School 2026

The North Carolina Governor's School is a four-week summer residential program for gifted and talented high school students, integrating academic disciplines, the arts, and unique courses on each of two campuses. Learning focuses on the exploration of the most recent ideas and concepts in each discipline, and it does not involve credit, tests, or grades. Students are selected to attend through a competitive process after being nominated by their public school. Please review the information on the website  below or contact Ms. O'Kane for more information. Completed applications for the VAHS candidates are due to Ms. O'Kane by December 2, 2025.

Seniors: Be Considered For Early Admission With “National College Match”

The National College Match gives seniors the opportunity to be considered for early admission and a full four-year scholarship.

QuestBridge programs are for high-achieving students from low-income backgrounds. Most of the students who are selected as Finalists come from households earning less than $65,000 per year for a household of four with minimal assets (assets include savings, investments, and homes, properties, or businesses owned). However, there are no absolute cut-offs.

The deadline for seniors to apply is Tuesday, September 30. Please check out  https://www.questbridge.org/ for more information.

Interested/Eligible students are encouraged to reach out to Jill O'Kane, VAHS School Counselor for assistance (jokane@voyageracademy.net).

Freshman Sign Up For A Peer Mentor!

Voyager Anchors is a peer mentor program where freshmen are paired with an older student who can offer support and guidance as they transition to high school. College App. Assistance: College Foundation of NC (CFNC) Webinars

The College Foundation of North Carolina (CFNC) is a free online resource provided by the state of North Carolina to help students plan, apply, and pay for college. It's a collaboration between several organizations, including the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority and the UNC System. CFNC.org is the official website for this service. They are hosting a handful of student and parent webinars in the Fall. Below are just two of the upcoming opportunities.

1) Finding and Applying for the Right Scholarships. The best scholarships are local ones. CFNC experts will share where to look for scholarships students might qualify for and how they can put their best foot forward in their application process.
Date: September 9
Time: 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm
https://zoom.us/webinar/register/9017513947455/WN_BZvtMdm3Tb-wD4SKj6l8zw#/registration

2) NC College Connect is a program that provides a simpler and faster way to get admitted to college in North Carolina. Students from a North Carolina public high school with a weighted GPA of 2.8 or above who meet the NC College Connect requirements are automatically admitted to select North Carolina colleges and universities. All they need to do is submit a form to accept their admission—it’s easy!
Date: September 16th at 6:00 pm. No need to register; just click the link on the cfnc webpage when the session is ready to begin.
