Dear VAES Families,
It’s hard to believe that we are only a week away from our Fall Break (October 8 – 12)!!  August and September have flown by! For the past few weeks, our Kindergarten – Third grade students have been going on field experiences and listening to guest experts as they dive deeper into their 1st trimester projects.  Field experiences (field trips) and guest experts are key component in Project Based Learning (PBL) and are a part of the elementary project work curriculum.

BOX TOPS are due to your homeroom teacher by Friday, October 5. The classroom that has the most will win a pizza party! Please remember to only submit Box Tops that are NOT expired! If you want to help, they have to be put in groups of 50 that are labeled (snack size bags work great)!

Science Olympiad Update
Science Olympiad is an extracurricular academic competition in which students grades K-12 compete in STEM-related events. The topics encompass anatomy, biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, geology, mechanical engineering and technology. Teamwork and group learning are a major emphasis.
