Deadline for Direct College Admission is Jan. 2

January 2, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. is the deadline for students to claim their spot through NC College Connect.  The NC College Connect (https://www.cfnc.org/nc-college-connect) is a program that provides a simpler and faster way to get admitted to college in North Carolina.

Seniors in North Carolina public high schools with a weighted GPA of 2.8 or above, have been notified of their admittance to select North Carolina colleges and universities. Students still have time to see the tailored list of colleges and universities in their NC Connect portals and accept any non binding offers for admission by the deadline.

Seniors: Here Are Your FAFSA Instructions

College bound seniors and parents/guardians should fill out the FAFSA to access federal student aid like grants, work-study, and loans, as well as state and school-based aid and private scholarships. Completing the form is free and can help pay for college. The  Professional Access and Equity (PAE) Committee has developed simplified FAFSA instructions. This resource was developed to assist students and parents/guardians with navigating the new FAFSA process more easily.

DRIVERS ED: Non-DPS Student Registration & Class Information

To enroll in the Drivers Education class, a student will need to have a personal gmail email account (not a school account). If the student does not already have one, it is very advantageous to set this up a personal gmail account prior to registration.

NC College Connect

Congratulations to the VAHS seniors who have earned eligibility for the NC College Connect program.  https://www.cfnc.org/nc-college-connect/. NC College Connect is a program that provides a simpler and faster way for students with a weighted 2.8 or higher to get admitted to college in North Carolina. Eligible seniors should have received a letter from the College Foundation of NC (CFNC) with a list of colleges and universities that they have been offered admission through the program. Information about next steps is included in the letter and at the website listed above. The Attached PowerPoint is also a great resource.
Please contact VAHS School Counselor, Jill O'Kane if there are additional questions.
