Dear VAMS Families,
What a busy week with field trips, lots of sports being played and a PTO luncheon for the staff!
Our 6th graders enjoyed a field trip to Marbles/IMAX studio. The students had a great time participating in experiments and hands-on activities dealing with science. They also enjoyed watching the landing on the moon event at IMAX studio. It was awesome. To top off the trip, lunch was at Crabtree Valley’s Food Court. The students were excited, well-mannered, engaged in their learning, and extremely polite and helpful to each other. I had the opportunity to go on the field trip and I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with the students during a terrific learning environment. Thanks 6th grade team and parents who attended the field trip! Parents, you made it happen!!!!!
Last Tuesday we had 30 tardies! PLEASE have your child/children to school on time. Students want to be on time as the class begins as soon as the tardy bell rings at 8:15 NOT 8:30. Students must be in class at 8:15. If not, they are counted tardy. We need your help getting students to school on time. Letters will be mailed home next week if you are not in compliance with the Attendance Policy.
Middle School students do not need cell phones at school. If they bring their cell phone to school, the cell phone needs to be in their bookbag or locked in their locker. They may not use the cell phone during the school day.
It’s been shared that students are emailing/texting parents during the day and that parents are emailing/texting students. Please do not disrupt their learning by texting or emailing during the school day. If you need to get a message to your child, call Ms. Pam and we will deliver the message. Thanks for you support with cell phones!

Thanks a bunch for following car line procedures! My goal is that students get home safely as well as having all cars off Ben Franklin as soon as possible. So far so good! It truly helps with our process when cars are not on Ben Franklin prior to 3:05/3:10. THANK YOU!
Fall Picture Retakes
Our fall picture retake date is Oct. 28. I know you are thinking, that’s a month away. You are right, it is! The photographer works around the other dates that our schools have for pictures. We will remind you closer to Oct. 28!
Friday, Sept. 27 is our Fall Conference Day. Teachers are in the process of scheduling conferences. If you feel you need to have a conference and have not been contacted, feel free to contact your child’s homeroom teacher to get a conference scheduled.
