Voyager Academy Elementary School News, Sept. 22, 2019

Hi!
What beautiful weather we are beginning to have during our car line time.  We are looking forward to more and more of these comfortable cool mornings.  Hope you are all doing well and that your student(s) are enjoying school.

Information
Monday during our Professional Development we continued to learn about Istation.  Istation is the program the state gave us to use student progress.  We view a module each month and take a test on it.  This month we are going to learn how to look at data, how to group students and lessons that will help to move students along their academic path.  We are concluding the first round of our testing.  Look forward to hearing results during your parent conferences next Friday. If you haven’t done so, please schedule a conference with your child’s teacher to discuss how your child is doing thus far.

Classrooms:
This week the third grade classes went to Raleigh to the arboretum.  One of third grade projects is on plants. This field trip was their kickoff for the plant project.  Look forward to the project celebration on October 25, at 11:00.  Please remember to park in the high school parking lot and walk over to the elementary school.  At the arboretum, the kids visited five stations: seeds, flowers, leaves, soil and what plants need to grow (water, sunlight, nutrients and air).  They learned about the life cycle of plants and why they are important.  What a great way to kick off the plant project!

Science Olympiad:
Dear Parents,
We are sending you the Science Olympiad in-school signup google form which should allow you to view and edit.  The deadline to sign up is Sept 24.

2019-20 VAES Yearbook Cover Contest:
Our annual yearbook cover contest will be kicking off very soon. Please keep an eye on your email next week for details on how your elementary student can enter! In addition to our contest, information on how to order yearbooks will also be available soon. We can’t wait to see all the wonderful, creative cover entries our ES students will submit this year.
