VAHS class of 2020 graduates at the Orange County Speedway

CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2020!

Dear Seniors and families,

For your reference, below are the details about graduation.

Date: May 26, 2020
Time: 5:00pm   Families may begin arriving at 4:00pm
Location: Orange County Speedway (9740 NC-57, Rougemont, NC 27572)
The ceremony will allow for all seniors to graduate at the same event, and be able to “walk” as they receive a diploma and get professionally photographed, as opposed to the “drive-through” format.

Here is how it will work:
-- To remain in compliance with the N.C. Executive Order, we may not have a gathering of spectators, other than those in cars. Therefore, all vehicles of seniors and families will be parked in four rows of 25 on the infield facing the grandstands, where the podium will be situated.

-- You will be able to tune in to your FM radios to 103.7 to hear the person at the podium, and any musical accompaniment (but we will also have a p.a. system).

-- When recognitions and speeches, etc. are concluded, cars will be directed to proceed around the track.

-- As each car approaches the location of the podium, your VAHS senior gets out of the car, takes the diploma from a table (as name is announced), then s/he gets a professional photograph taken in front of the Voyager Academy banner.

-- Due to lack of internet access, the event will not be livestreamed. However, it will be recorded and posted, so that families may view and download.

A few “do’s & don’ts”:

-- This is an alcohol free event.

-- No recreational vehicles (RVs).  This is because we need space for all to park on the infield.

-- No open "convertible" (soft-top vehicles)

-- All attendees must be inside vehicles, e.g. no one is allowed to ride on the bed of a truck or pick-up truck.

-- You may feel free to decorate your vehicle and graduation caps!  However, Voyager Academy policy, with regard to appropriateness is still in effect.
