Voyager Academy Middle School News, Jan. 15, 2018

Dear VAMS Families,
Happy New Year! I hope you and your family enjoyed the holidays and the New Year is off to a great start. Hopefully you were able to enjoy family time during our days off.

It is great to have the students back in school. As I’ve visited the classrooms, I noticed that the learning process started immediately after the announcements on Monday. Our teachers were ready for the day and so were our students.

Report cards were sent home Friday. Along with the report card, you should have received a copy of your child’s benchmark results. If you have questions about the benchmark report, please contact your child’s Language Arts and/or math teacher. There is also a third document in the report card envelope. The third document explains some tweaks that we are making to the middle school afternoon carline procedure. Please make sure you follow the directions that are provided in the carline document. It’s imperative that the sign in your car window has the name of each child and the number that has been assigned to your child. The letter is below.

CARLINE LETTER THAT WAS SENT TO YOU WITH THE REPORT CARD

January 12th, 2018

Dear Parent(s) or Guardian(s),

In an attempt to make our afternoon dismissal procedure more effective for all stakeholders at Voyager Academy Middle School, our leadership team has decided to amend our dismissal procedure. This change will only affect Middle School students and their elementary siblings who walk to the Middle School for afternoon dismissal. Also, this change only affects how we execute dismissal as a staff and in no way changes where and when you are expected to collect your child. The only change you need to make is to your sign. Below you should see the name of your child accompanied by a four-digit number. We are asking that you add this number to the sign you usually display to a VAMS staff member at carline. With our new procedure a VAMS staff member will enter the 4-digit code associated with your child into a mobile device. Your arrival will displayed in your student’s classroom to notify them that you are on campus and ready to pick them up.

EXAMPLE --- Gwen Johnson 1234
{First_Name} {Last_Name} {DCID}
Homeroom: {Homeroom}

All parents who participate in our afternoon carline should be prepared to display this number by Friday, January 19th. If you are responsible for picking up other students who are not listed in this letter, please coordinate with their parents to receive their 4-digit number to be fully prepared to execute this new procedure. We anticipate that this new carline method will make the carline experience smoother and more efficient for everyone. If you have any questions please contact Gwen Johnson at gjohnson@voyageracademy.net or Justin Smith at jsmith@voyageracademy.net.
