It is hard to believe that school will begin in a few weeks!!
I hope everyone is having a relaxing and fun summer!! I have included a
lot of VERY IMPORTANT information regarding classroom teacher assignments, Open
House dates and times, Kindergarten staggered start, and school hours. Please
read this entire email. I would also encourage you to save it so that
you have it to refer back to later, if needed. I have included the links
for the Kindergarten - Third Grade Supply Lists. They are also on our website
under the tab Parent Resources - Documents and Forms.

2018 - 2019
1st - 3rd Grade Information:
Your child’s classroom teacher assignment will be sent
via email on Wednesday, August 1 by 4:00 PM. Please do not call or email the
school before this date and time to ask for this information. We will be
unable to provide you with that information since enrollment and class lists
change throughout the summer. If you have not received your child’s classroom
teacher assignment by Thursday, August 2, please email Karen Hofmann at khofmann@voyageracademy.net and she will be able to assist you.
Open House Dates & Times for 1st - 3rd Grade:
Please park at the High School and walk over to the
Elementary School.
1st Grade Open House:
Friday, August 3
11:00 - 12:00
2nd Grade Open House & Curriculum
Overview:
Friday, August 3
2:00 - 3:00
Please arrive by 2:00 PM-this is not a
floating open house. First, deliver your child’s school supplies to their
classroom. Then parents and students can go to the elementary gym for a
curriculum overview with the second grade team.
3rd Grade Open House:
Thursday, August 2
5:00 - 6:00 PM
Please arrive by 5:00 PM-this is not a
floating open house. First, deliver your child’s school supplies to their
classroom. The teacher will have a short “Morning” Meeting with the
students and parents so that everyone can get to know each other. Since
3rd Grade is the first year students take EOG’s,in addition to the curriculum
overview, the 3rd Grade teachers will provide information to PARENTS/GUARDIANS
in the elementary gym about the 3rd Grade Reading Beginning of Grade (BOG)
test, 3rd Grade Read to Achieve guidelines, and the 3rd Grade Reading and Math
End of Grade (EOG) tests. We know that discussions about testing can
often make students anxious, therefore, the students will go to the art/music
room for an activity with the specials teachers and volunteers while the adults
are in the elementary gym.
The first day of school for all 1st - 3rd graders is
Tuesday, August 7.
Kindergarten Information:

will be sent via email by Monday, August 6 by 4:00 PM. Please do not call or
email the school before this date and time to ask for this information.
We will be unable to provide you with that information since enrollment

Please bring ALL school supplies to Open House.

Staggered Start for Kindergarten:
**Please note that we reserve the right
to change your child’s classroom assignment within the first few weeks of
school if we determine that it is in their best interest - the principal will
make the final decision regarding classroom assessments
For the staggered start, ½ of the students will
attend school EITHER Wednesday, or Thursday, NOT BOTH
days. Then ALL will attend on Friday.
Wednesday, August 8: 8:30 - 12:00:
Students with
Last Name Beginning with A - K: Students should bring a snack, water bottle, and a
lunch from home.
Thursday, August 9th: 8:30-12:00: Students with Last Name Beginning
with L - Z:
Students should bring a snack, water bottle,
and a lunch from home.
ALL K STUDENTS:
Friday, August 10th: 8:30-12:00: ALL
students attend: Students should bring a snack, water bottle, and a lunch
from home.
ALL K STUDENTS:
On Monday, August 13: All Kindergarten students
will attend for the full day from 7:45 - 12:45. Remember, Mondays are
Early Release Days and school dismisses at 12:45 on Mondays.
**If you are the parent of multiples, please let us know if you
would like your children to be placed in the same classroom. If we do not
hear from you regarding your preference, they will be placed in separate
classrooms.
After kindergarten, the teacher, the
principal, and the parents will discuss and determine if it is in the
children’s best interest to remain together or to be placed in separate
classrooms - the principal will make the final decision regarding classroom
assignments.
