Voyager Academy Middle School News, Feb. 23, 2020

Hello Middle School Families,
I must say this was a most unusual week!  Our teachers had outstanding professional development on Monday.  We had Project Based Learning professional development in the morning and Diversity Training in the afternoon.  Presenters for both sessions were terrific! On Tuesday our committees met and discussed the year and began talking about next year.  Teachers also had time to work with their team and time to work in their own class. Wednesday was a day of learning along with lots of chatter about the possibility of snow!  Thursday and Friday were snow days. I enjoyed the beautiful snow and tried sledding but the snow was too fluffy!

Meeting at the High School for Rising 9th grade parents and students
On Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 6:00, Dr. Nolan (High School Principal) and staff will share important high school information with you regarding the move from 8th grade to 9th grade.  The session will be in the high school gym.  In the past years, the meeting has been extremely informative as our 8th graders will soon make choice selection for their first year of high school.  You will hear about subjects that are required, subjects that are electives, and subjects that must have an 8th grade teacher signature before enrolling in the subject. They will also share additional information with you! Hope to see you there!

EOG Dates – PLEASE PUT ON YOUR CALENDAR
Wednesday, May 13 – Reading, 4th – 8th
Thursday, May 14 -      Math, 4th – 8th
Friday, May 15 -     5th and 8th Grade Science

Carline Request
IF you are only picking up a middle school student/students, you SHOULD NOT begin lining up on Ben Franklin Rd until 1:10 (Mondays) or 3:10 (Tuesday-Friday).  When the middle school is lined up prior to the above times, we cause the ES to delay in their dismissal and it is not safe to have a long line on Ben Franklin. As you know our carline moves quickly, even on rainy days, so please follow the procedure.
