From the Managing Director's Desk, March 8, 2020

Good Afternoon Viking Families,

Please read through this newsletter as there are many updates and exciting events!

First, we would like to share with all of you that Voyager Academy has successfully closed on our 30-year refinancing project! After many years of work on our School rating and fiscal planning, we were able to execute a taxable refinancing for all our capital projects under one umbrella which is going to save our school TONS of money over the next 30 years. This is a great achievement for our entire School community and will benefit all our students, staff and families.

And now for student news to celebrate! Join me in congratulating our Bull City Lights and Vocal Affinity groups for their amazing performances this weekend.  Here are a few highlights from the competition awards:
Melody Wimberley-1st place solo competition
Showmanship: Serenity Davis
“KOSTE Award”: Spirit of Show Choir Award
Showmanship: Cameron Elliott & Noah Smith
Best female soloist for the entire day overall: Melody Wimberley
People’s Choice Award
2nd runner up overall

CURRENT UPDATE OF OUR CAPITAL CAMPAIGN AND UPCOMING GALA:

We would like to continue to thank all of you who have donated to our capital campaign this year. As you all know, Voyager Academy wants to purchase 2 buses this year to provide safe and cost-effective transportation for all students to their many field trips as well as after school/weekend competitions for sports teams, performing arts, and academic clubs.  Please help us continue this fundraising by contributing to the capital campaign and by attending our Gala/Auction where all proceeds this year will go towards this wonderful goal.

At this time we have received just over $22,000 in donations towards our goal. Two brand-new, 72 passenger buses will cost Voyager just under $200,000 so we have a lot of donations to go! If you haven’t already heard, our Voyager Academy Governing Board has committed to match all donations! Every dollar that we receive through the Capital Campaign or the Gala will be matched by the School so you know we are all equally dedicated to this campaign! Please donate today through the donations tab on our website, or by participating in our upcoming Gala and bidding on our amazing baskets and specialty items.

Please mark your calendars for our 2nd Annual Auction and Gala. The evening is open to all!
Invite friends and family to join us. We will be auctioning off sports memorabilia, tickets to local events, baskets filled with awesome items and more. All proceeds will go towards much needed school buses to help transport students to/from field trips, sporting events and other activities we struggle to get our students to.
