Voyager Academy Middle School News, October 21, 2018

Dear VAMS Families,

Our week after Fall Break was a very productive one.  The students had much to share about their time away from school.  After all the sharing, we were back in the groove of teaching and learning.

Report Cards
Report cards were sent home Friday with our students.  If you did not receive your child’s report card, please check the book bag.  The report cards are for the first quarter. Please keep the report card and send the signed envelope back to the teacher.
Voyager’s Silent Auction
A Silent Auction meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 25 at 4:00.  If you are available and willing to help with the Silent Auction, please plan to attend the meeting.  The meeting will be in Mr. Eisenson’s room. If you have questions, please email Mr. Eisenson at aeisenson@voyageracademy.net.  We appreciate all help!   The Silent Auction is scheduled for Feb. 23 and will be held at Umstead Pines.  Please put the date on your calendar!

News for Nate Rice

Hello parents-
If you have a child interested in participating in a winter or spring sport, please make sure to verify that the steps below are complete.

  1. Obtain a physical and return form to High School front desk, Attn: Mr. Harris and Mr. Rice.

  2. Complete concussion form and return to High School front desk.

Complete Online Forms and add the sport(s) your child plans to participate in.
https://app.formreleaf.com/organizations/voyager-academy/programs/20182019-sports

If your child participated in a 2018 fall sport, please verify that the physical on file has not expired (valid for one year form exam date) and add desired winter/spring sport(s) to the online forms by editing your previous account. The concussion form and online forms are valid for the entire 2018-19 school year.

All forms must be complete and on file BEFORE your child can start tryouts or any sports activity.

Questions? Please contact High School Athletic Trainer Nate Rice at nathan.rice@emergeortho.com. Mr. Rice manages Middle School and High School athletic forms along with Athletic Director Deuce Harris. Mr. Harris is out of the office until October 15th.

Cross Country

We are proud of our Cross Country Team!  The championship meet was run on Monday. Voyager girls are Cross Country Conference Champions! The girls dominated the meet on Monday, taking four of the top five spots. Top five runners from Voyager were Liz Lalor, who came in first, followed by Kate Bakelaar, Dakota Tivnan, Eloise Leonard, and Elizabeth Bunn.  The Voyager Cross Country boys also ran a great meet on Monday. They came in an extremely close second place. Top five runners were Cade Curtis, who came in first, followed by Parker Hinshaw, Dylan Ohlendorf, Langdon Redford, and KJ Davis. Thank you, Mrs. Mangano, for coaching our boys and girls again this year. Great job!
