Voyager Academy Middle School News, November 11, 2018

Dear VAMS Families,

Congratulations to Mr. Doug Price!  Mr. Price was nominated and named Voyager Academy Teacher of the Year this past spring.  He had several tasks to complete as he is now competing in the state competition. This week we learned that Mr. Price is one of the 10 finalists for NC Charter School Teacher of the Year.  Mr. Price will be interviewed by the Charter School Teacher of the Year Selection Committee in a couple of weeks. The team will narrow the field from 10 to 2 candidates. We are all cheering for Mr. Price!!!!  Mr. Price, we congratulate you and are very proud of you!

It’s been a very busy week at Voyager Middle School! Not only have the students been learning lots so has the staff!  On Monday Mrs. Gittens, our social worker, and Mrs. Farrish, our counselor, shared a presentation regarding Mental Health with the staff.  The purpose of the presentation was to provide information that will help students if they are in crisis. Our 7th grade students completed their reading and math NC Check Ins.  Mrs. Graham’s class spent time at the pond across from Voyager as they continued to conduct water quality experiments. On Thursday and Friday, we were fortunate to have Laura Moody and Shelley Brown provide our 7th and 8th graders with an awesome Digital Safety presentation.  7th and 8th grade parents, please ask your child to share information with your regarding their presentation. We finished the week with a 4th, 5th, and 6th grade Social on Friday afternoon.  We had lots of students attend and we had lots of students who had a GREAT time.
