"Smelly" Lab Fun!!
Mrs. Huntington's classes had a great week in the lab. Anatomy and Physiology students got to practice identifying the body planes and directions (and also practice their dissecting skills for future labs) by exploring with "Where Did Sir Pickle Get His Wound" dissection lab. They had to identify the location of the wound by giving the location based on the body directions, planes, and cavities we studied in class that week.
Biology got in on the stinky fun by exploring how enzymes help drive reactions in our cells by completing the "Liver Enzyme Lab". After they overcame the initial gross out of the smell and the raw and cooked chicken liver they had a blast watching it react with the catalase (hydrogen peroxide). They got to explore how heat and pH affected the enzyme/catalase reaction as well. This was a great finish to our look at the biomolecules!
