2019-20 High School Course Selection Begins Feb. 25!

Hard to believe that we are already about to begin the course selection process for the 2019-20 year, but that time is almost upon us!  This begins on February 25, but you can start to browse the VAHS course catalog now to get a head start (click here).

Should students have any questions, they may contact their VAHS Advisor.

All 11th Graders Take the ACT on Tuesday March 12 (UPDATED).
Just a reminder that all 11th graders take the ACT on the morning of March 12th (changed from Feb. 20 due to inclement weather). Be sure to get a good night’s sleep and good luck to all!

The Annual VA Golf Tournament is April 7th
Hello Viking Families, it is that time of year again for our annual Athletic Department Golf Tournament. This year the tournament will be held on Sunday, April 7th at Hillandale Golf Course. As an entirely self-funded program Voyager Athletics hosts this tournament each year to support our athletes, coaching staff, and our school. We appreciate any and all support that this community is willing to give our youth as we strive to reach our goal of 100 teams in this year’s tournament. Competitors will have a chance to win various prizes while they enjoy a great day of golfing.  Each athlete will have a copy of the entry form and the flyer or teams may contact Deuce Harris directly to register their team. Again, we thank everyone in advance for their contributions and support of one of our biggest fundraisers each year. Go, Vikings Go!

VAHS Class of 2018 Alumnus Accomplishment
Congratulations to 2018 VAHS graduate Reece Roberts! Reece is one of eleven students to become a member of Durham Tech’s first Community College Collaboration (C3) class this semester. This new partnership between Durham Tech and NC State University provides a guaranteed admissions pathway for students wishing to transfer to NC State. C3 students receive mentoring, academic advising, and financial aid advising from NC State while they complete their Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, or Associate of Engineering degree at Durham Tech. If they maintain a 3.0 GPA and graduate on time, they will transfer to NC State in the spring of 2020.

Raleigh National College Fair. March 19, 2019  4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Free and open to the public, National College Fairs are the perfect place to kick off your college search.

Admission representatives from schools across the country are all gathered in one place. Their goal: To encourage you to learn more about their institutions, and help you sort through the qualities you’re looking for in a college.

Use your visit to:
Explore your options. Each fair draws representatives from 175 to 400 colleges. The schools are located throughout the US, and from around the globe.

Ask questions. What’s college life like? What majors are popular on campus? Chatting with representatives from a variety of colleges can help you cement your own preferences.

Gather information. Pick up brochures and other materials about the schools that interest you. Ask admission reps to scan your barcode—an easy way to help colleges follow up with you after the fair.
