Voyager Academy Middle School News, February 17, 2019

Dear VAMS Families,

It’s been a very busy but great week at Voyager Middle School!  I want to thank all of you who played a part in this week’s Teacher Appreciation Week.  You were so gracious in your donations whether it was school supplies, food for the luncheon, snacks, or time!  Each of you played a major part in making the staff feel extra special.

BINGO in Ms. Vurnakes Class
I had so much fun participating in Ms. Vurnakes math class.  They were using Bingo to share their understanding of decimals whether it was 2.02, 87.40, 25.006 or 365.369.  The students were extremely engaged in the learning process as Ms. Vurnakes made understanding decimals fun.

Parent Meeting for Rising 9th Graders
There will be a parent meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 27 for parents of rising 9th graders.  The meeting will be held at the high school and is from 6:30-7:30.  Hope to see ALL of you there! It’s a great time to have all of your high school questions answered.

8th Graders Tour the High School
Our 8th graders will tour Voyager High School on Thursday, Feb. 21.  The students will go to the high school during their Core Connections class period.  Mr. Eisenson will go with each group.

Basketball Tournament
Both teams played in the championship game of the tournament.  The girls played extremely hard but came up a little short in the end.  They played Falls Lake and the score of the championship game was 27-21.  The girls should be very proud of their season as they only had one loss during the season and it was to Falls Lake.  Great season, girls!

The boys played Vance and were fortunate to win the game.  Vance played hard and were determined to force us to play even harder.  Our team really wanted to win the game so they stayed focused on the “prize” which for them was the championship trophy.  Congratulations to the boys, Coach Shawn Ryan, and Coach Jen Ryan! The boys had an undefeated season and won the tournament championship!
