Practice ACT For All 11th Graders on Jan. 7
As you know, all N.C. 11th graders will take the ACT exam on February 25, 2020 as part of the state testing program. This is a very important test for all students, for their college and career aspirations.  To provide support for student success, all VAHS 11th graders will be doing a practice ACT on Tuesday, January 7.

The practice ACT will be followed by a review of students’ individual test results, to be used in test strategies sessions that will be given by the test prep/tutoring company, Colprep Tutoring (https://www.colpreptutoring.com).

We encourage all students to do their best on the ACT, as a good score can really benefit them!
--

10th Grade PreACT Reports Distributed
Pre-ACT Score Reports were provided to all 10th grade students during Advisory on Monday Dec. 9th. Advisory teachers returned the score reports, test books and a pamphlet that they went through, that explains how to interpret the results.
Students were instructed to share the information with their parents and to keep the materials in a safe place for future use when preparing for the ACT. The PreACT test provides students with practice for the ACT test and measures of progress towards college readiness. Please be sure to review the results with your students.

FAFSA Opened October 1st – File as soon as you can!
If seniors need financial aid to help  pay for college, families must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form. The 2020–21 FAFSA form just opened this week on Oct. 1, 2019. Families should fill it out as soon as possible. Federal funding is limited, so experts urge students and families to file their FAFSAs as soon as possible.
There are some great articles posted on the Counseling Department Blog about how to get started on the FAFSA!

Click here for a flyer with information about where students/families can receive assistance with financial aid/FAFSA completion.
