WHAT IS HAPPENING AT VOYAGER ACADEMY ELEMENTARY?  Fall is in the air and VAES is ready to celebrate.  Here are a couple of things that we want Voyager families to put on their calendar:

VIRTUAL FALL ASSEMBLY:  You asked for it and we are going to deliver.  The VAES staff is working to create our next virtual fall assembly.  The assembly is scheduled for Friday, October 30 at 8:00 am (instead of the normal morning meeting).  The theme for this event is called, “FALLING IN LOVE WITH BOOKS”.  Some teachers will be highlighting some of their favorite books.  We will be hosting a book character pumpkin parade, giving students an opportunity to participate in a fall challenge and more!  Mark your calendar now for this fun event.

VIRTUAL SPIRIT WEEK: We have spirit, yes we do.  We have spirit, how about you?  VAES will be hosting a spirit week October 26-30.  Details will follow, but we wanted you to begin thinking about how you could show your school spirit.

Monday, October 26:  PJ Day (wear your PJ’s to your morning meeting).

Tuesday, October 27:  Essential Workers Day (dress like an essential worker for your morning meeting).

Wednesday, October 28:  Hat Day (wear a crazy hat or your favorite hat to your morning meeting).

Thursday, October 29:  Throwback Thursday (pick your favorite decade and dress up for your morning meeting).

Friday, October 30:  Book Character Day (dress up as your favorite book character for your morning meeting).

FALL BREAK:  Hold on parents, fall break is just around the corner.  We are going to give it all we have for one more week and then we get to have a break!!!  FALL BREAK is scheduled for October 12-16.

HIGHLIGHTING SECOND GRADE AT VAES: For WIN Wednesday, the students in 2nd grade were able to pick a reading activity off of the October Choice Board. Some of the activities included reading in a fort, reading with stuffed animals, reading with a flashlight, or reading a recipe and making it.  A student from Mrs. Lane's class chose to read a recipe and make Snickerdoodle Cookies. They looked delicious.

This week the students learned all about verbs. They got to watch a video of the 2nd grade teachers acting out a verb. We encouraged them to get outside and record a video of themselves acting out a verb.  It has been a blast in 2nd grade!  Way to go Vikings!

SHOUT-OUTS FROM PARENTS:  We recognize remote learning is stressful but we also know many great things are happening.  Listed below are a few lines of praise parents have recently sent to Mr. Manning.  Do you want to praise your child’s teacher?  Please email Mr. Manning at tmanning@voyageracademy.net.

“Mrs. Flowe-Dawson is simply amazing!  She even introduces vocabulary words such as unilateral into her lesson.  My child loves her and we love her.”

“I had the pleasure of attending Mrs. Roberts morning meeting today.  She kept the children engaged and was warm and welcoming.  Mrs. Roberts is so interactive and so professional.  I was reminded today just how special Voyager is.”

“I love art and I love Mrs. Davis.  Mrs. Davis is the definition of a quality teacher.  She has mastered remote learning.  Mrs. Davis is so creative, so fun, and so patient.”

“We LOVE our teacher, Mrs. VanShaick!!!! Our entire family loves her!!! She is the most amazing teacher! Dedicated and smart, and creative and most importantly our son loves learning.”
