Mole Day Celebration
Students in Ms. Fortkort's Chemistry and Physical Science classes celebrated the wonderful MOLE on Mole Day, October 23. What is the mole you ask? A mole is a collection of things and in that collection there are 6.02 x 10^23 items. This is such a large number because the "things" we are counting in Chemistry are atoms and they are VERY, VERY tiny!
We celebrate by playing Whack a Mole, eating dirt cake, listening to silly Mole Day songs, and completing a worksheet using the mole in a calculation.

Democracy In Action - Voyager Votes
Voyager Academy students, K-12, successfully participated in a school-wide mock election this week! In partnership with Kids Voting Durham (https://www.kidsvotingdurham.org/), students cast ballots mirroring the local municipal races, gaining valuable, hands-on experience in the civic process. We celebrate our students' engagement and their steps toward becoming informed future voters! The kids have done their civic duty and now we encourage all Durham City residents to get out and vote. The General Election is Tuesday Nov. 4th.

NC College Connect
Congratulations to the VAHS seniors who have earned eligibility for the NC College Connect program. https://www.cfnc.org/nc-college-connect/. NC College Connect is a program that provides a simpler and faster way for students with a weighted 2.8 or higher to get admitted to college in North Carolina. Eligible seniors should have received a letter from the College Foundation of NC (CFNC) with a list of colleges and universities that they have been offered admission through the program. Information about next steps is included in the letter and at the website listed above. The Attached PowerPoint is also a great resource.
Please contact VAHS School Counselor, Jill O'Kane if there are additional questions.
