From the Voyager Academy Managing Director, May 13, 2018

Dear Viking Families,
First and Foremost, HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY TO ALL YOU WONDERFUL MOMS OUT THERE! We wouldn’t be where we are without you, and goodness knows our kids wouldn’t be either. Thank you for all you do!

A very special congratulations to our newest members of the NJHS. We welcomes 32 new members into this prestigious cadre this Monday evening and we are very proud of your accomplishments so far. Make us proud!
Only 2 weeks of school left and it feels like we have so much more to do! Please make sure you know your children’s testing schedule so you can help them prepare with a good night’s rest, a healthy breakfast and on time arrival each day. Please remember that tardy students will not be allowed to disrupt morning testing for any reason. Please help us by proctoring exams if the call for action is sent out 😊 check with your building principal or for last minute proctors needed. We appreciate your support!
Although school ends soon, Voyager has so many great opportunities for you this summer….you can visit our website for full day camps, specialty camps, academic tutoring, driver’s ed and our new summer choir program here:

Inspiring lifelong learning in every Viking.

Voyager Academy Vision Statement
We, at Voyager, work hard to “inspire lifelong learning in every Viking.” To prepare our students to be career ready, we have recently focused our attention on things like the creation of a Design/Maker Space, lessons and activities to encourage more technical Career Pathways, and additional classes in Computer Science and Computer Programming. In order to expand our career ready learning initiatives, we’ve realized that our vision is only attainable with community partnerships.

We are applying for grants, bringing professionals into the classrooms to discuss their professions, and looking into other Career and Technical Education courses. Do you work for a company that could help? In an effort to strengthen and streamline our partnerships with community organizations, Voyager is piloting a “Partnership Database.”
We encourage you take a look at the form below to see if your company or business could potentially partner with Voyager. The information you provide will ONLY be used to help us align programs, provide letters of support, make referrals and communicate with our building principals, staff, about potential programs available to support their work.

Please contact Marina McKenna at with any questions regarding partnership. Thank you for supporting Voyager’s staff and students.

Congratulations to the COLE team!
Congratulations to both teams this weekend for a great showing at the competition.  I was really proud of all of the kids. East Wake did a great job hosting the tournament and hopefully COLE will continue to catch on and grow.  If you know anyone at another school in the area that may be interested in starting a team, I would be happy to talk with them.

We do plan to have COLE again next year and to expand to Middle School!   The elementary team will be 4th and 5th grade again, and the middle school will be 6th-8th.  We hope to see these kids back again next year. I put links to the book lists for next year in this email in case the kids want to get started with some summer reading!

I also want to say thank you again to all the parents who volunteered this year.  Our parent volunteers were fabulous. Thanks to Hali Bakelaar, Christina Sendall, Dawn Wilcox and Joyce Robinson.  Thank you also to Ms. Johnson who gave up her Saturday to come support the team.

Please remember to have your child wear their COLE t-shirt on Monday!
