It’s been another busy week at the middle school! We’ve had games, ACT Time, Check Ins, COLE competition, and 3 Aladdin performances! Please remind your middle schooler that we need to continue to focus on our assignments. Completing assignments AND turning in the assignment is a must!
Duke Children’s Hospital
Let’s help Sophia Carpenter collect items for the children at Duke Children’s Hospital. She is collecting coloring books, crayons, colored pencils, Legos, playdough, and dolls. Bring them to the office and put in the box outside Mrs. Johnson’s office. The Dollar Tree has all of the requested items. Let’s help the children!!!!! All items need to be new items!
NC Check Ins
Our third and final round of NC Check Ins are in process. Our 7th graders will take the NC Check Ins in April. Seventh grade NC Check Ins are April 9th and 10th.
EOG Testing Dates
May 10 5th Grade Science EOG
May 15 4th Grade – 8th Grade Reading EOG
May 16 4th Grade – 8th Grade Math EOG
May 21 8th Grade Science EOG
Please put these dates on your calendar so your child/children will be in school on these dates and on time. Students prefer taking the EOGs when their classmates take the EOG rather than on a make-up test day. Please do not schedule appointments on these days.
Aladdin – If you were unable to attend the musical, Aladdin Jr., you missed a terrific performance! Our students worked extremely hard to deliver outstanding performances and their hard work paid off. All three nights were fantastic. A huge Thank You to Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Wicker. We also appreciate all the volunteers. We could not have these performances without your help! I wonder what next year’s musical will be.
Songwriters’ Night – If you like Country Music and you have not attended Songwriters’ Night, you have missed a spectacular event. This year nine songwriters performed at the Durham Performing Arts Center. All of the songs performed on Friday night were written by one of the attending songwriters. The songs were well known songs and are heard on the radio sung by a Country Music Artist. It is a fun event!
8th Grade Graduation – Many of you have asked about our 8th Grade Graduation. Our 8th Grade Celebration, not graduation, is scheduled for Friday, May 24. We will begin at 8:45 and it is usually an hour. 8th graders may leave after the celebration.
