From the Managing Director's Desk, April 28, 2019

Dear Viking Families,
One of our 6th grade students lost his mom to cancer yesterday.  We’ve already heard from a few of you wondering how you can help.  I think the best way to help is to collect donations and/or gift cards such as grocery, gas or WalMart cards.  I have reached out to the daughter to see what is needed.  If you want to make a donation you may send Mrs. Johnson the cash or send gift cards. If you want to send a check, email Ms. Johnson and she will let you to whom it should be made payable to.  I have also been asked about funeral expenses and I'm sure that would also be of help to the family.  Voyager Academy always supports its families so let's help as we can.  Email gjohnson@voyageracademy.net with any questions.

Dear VAES Families,

As we near the end of the year and with end-of-year assessments and testing, this month is a perfect time to talk with your children about their concerns. In this month’s featured Responsive Classroom (RC) article, RC Consulting Teacher Lindsey Lynch discusses why challenge is actually a vital part of the learning process, and why it’s important to give kids the opportunity to “struggle” and find the answers for themselves.

Dear VAMS Families,

Although it was only a four-day week, it’s been a very busy week! Our softball, baseball, soccer, and tennis teams were very busy this week.  They were also very successful! Tournament play begins the end of next week. Our 4th graders had a terrific field trip to the Science Center in Greensboro on Wednesday and our 4th, 5th, and 6th graders had a social/dance on Friday afternoon.  In addition to all the activities, our teachers continued teaching and our students continued learning!
