From textbooks to the pillars of Power: AP Government students take on DC
Our AP Government class traded textbooks for tours last week on an unforgettable field trip to Washington D.C.! We dove headfirst into the heart of American politics with a tour of the U.S. Congress, getting a behind-the-scenes look at where laws are made.
But learning wasn't confined to buildings. We stretched our legs and our minds with a walk down the National Mall, soaking in the iconic monuments that stand as testaments to our nation's history. The Smithsonian museums offered a treasure trove of knowledge, from the fascinating stories of American history to the wonders of science and exploration.
The highlight of the trip, however, was a stroke of pure luck! We actually spotted President Joe Biden himself while touring the city. Seeing the leader of the free world in person was a truly electrifying experience that brought the whole concept of government to life.
This trip wasn't just about sightseeing; it was about transforming our classroom discussions into tangible experiences. We left D.C. with a deeper understanding of American government and a newfound appreciation for the intricate workings of our democracy.
