No School For Students On Monday April 22

Just a reminder for all that there is no school for students on Monday April 22, as it is a teacher workday.

Men’s Lacrosse Wins First Conference Title

Junior Nick Hayes scored 4 goals and Senior Graham Buchanan added 3 more as the men’s lacrosse team took home their first ever conference title this week after beating Roxboro Community, 10-6!

Radioactive! UNC Nuclear Medicine Professor Visits Chemistry Class

Students in Ms. Fortkort's Physical Science class welcomed a visit from Dr. Smith, a UNC Professor in the field of nuclear medicine and radiochemistry.  He presented some interesting information about how radioactive chemicals are used to diagnose and treat medical conditions.  Students were able to use Geiger counters to "hear" how much radioactive particles were being emitted by various materials.  By the way, if you have any  old (earlier than 1959) Fiesta ware dishes that are bright orange that means they may be painted with chemicals containing Uranium and you should give them to Ms. Fortkort!

Viking Hoopers Earn All-Conference Awards

Four members of the conference champion Voyager basketball team were selected to the All-Conference Team following the 2023-24 season.  Dwight Anderson, Michael Gales, David McMillon, and Nasir Westbrook garnered the All-Conference awards as they led the Vikings to the conference championship and to the 3rd round of the NCHSAA State Playoffs.  Congratulations to these Vikings and to the team for their success on the court this season.
