GO VIKINGS GO!

THANK YOU FOR A BEAUTIFUL AND SUCCESSFUL PROM!

Flappers, suspenders and fedoras filled the evening at this Saturday’s Great Gatsby themed prom.  By all accounts, students had a wonderful and memorable time. We send a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to the faculty members who made it possible--from planning to cleanup! In particular, we thank VAHS Math teacher and leader of the Prom Committee, Yen Nguyen, who was the driving force behind this beautiful event.  Thank you all!

HELP NEEDED FOR UPCOMING INTERVIEW PROJECT AT THE HIGH SCHOOL, TUESDAY, APRIL 17TH

The project will give all of Mr. Baker's Personal Finance students the chance to participate in a job interview. Ideal helpers would be real employers who might actually be interested in hiring a high schooler right now or during the summer, but any adult with interviewing experience (or just the free time to volunteer to help us in the middle of the school day) would be very much appreciated! Any adults in the Voyager Family who would be willing and able to help with this Interview Project, please contact Mr. Baker at dbaker@voyageracademy.net.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO ADVERTISE IN OUR YEARBOOK?

Do you own a business? If so, the Voyager Academy yearbook is a great way to let people know about your business! In the yearbook there is an ad section dedicated to businesses, and the business card ads start at only $50! What does this do? Ads in the yearbook draw attention to your business while supporting our yearbook production. Last year alone Voyager Academy had 4 pages full of ads purchased by businesses around the triangle. This year we plan on exceeding this goal along with helping your business! To purchase ad space in the yearbook, simply go to the Voyager website and follow the links. Email Ms. Kreisman at mkreisman@voyageracademy.net if you have any problems.  We hope to see your business featured in our yearbook!

Donations are still accepted as well.  Gold $50, Platinum $30 and Silver level is only $20.  Make all checks payable to "Jostens" and deliver/mail to the school.

With a total of 61 pints of blood donated this year, Voyager Academy will receive a $250 scholarship which will be given to a senior to be used toward furthering their education!  Thanks again Jordan. VIKING NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY NEWS

NHS is excited to announce the launch of our new website! You can access the website from the VAHS homepage or simply click here and bookmark it for future viewing. We are excited to be working with the VAES again to bring back the “Buddy Program” in which the students can work in the classrooms with students and teachers and build lasting relationships. We are getting ready to work with the Ronald McDonald house here in Durham to serve meals to families in April or May. We recently worked with the Woodward family to coordinate the sending of much needed supplies to those affected by the hurricane in Puerto Rico and we would like to thank everyone who donated.

AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE ABOUT STUDENT HEALTH

As you may or may not be aware, “vaping” and/or "juuling"(the use of E-cigarettes) has become an unhealthy trend among children and young adults, from middle through high school nationwide.  As the safety and health of our students is a top priority at VAHS, all students received a presentation on Feb. 13th about the effects of this unhealthy activity, as well as the Voyager Academy consequences.

To see the presentation that the students received this morning, please click here.  Parents/guardians are encouraged to reinforce this very important message at home.

As always, thank you so much for your continued support.

Learn about the science behind happiness and how it can be achieved at home and in school.
