Say NO to Drugs, and Bullying!
I’m excited to announce a new initiative for the students who participate in after school. On Mondays, we will educate students on bullying, teach about the dangers of drug/alcohol use, and encourage positive language and healthy behaviors amongst students and their peers.
Insight Human Services is the name of the company that we are partnering with to provide our students with this service. The program is very similar to the D.A.R.E. Program initiative that circulated schools in the 90s. The curriculum spans from Kindergarten to 5th grade. The sessions are only 30 mins long, and students seem to enjoy. Fourth and fifth grade students have already completed the course. I’m always looking for different ways to enhance our students socially, emotionally, and academically, so this is just a start. I will include an update to families in our weekly newsletter.

Students are continuing to enjoy their time after school. Students are able to complete homework, get extra help with subjects, and socialize with their friends. Many of our staff go the extra mile to provide fun academic enrichment activities for our students.
Enrichments
I can't believe December is here already! Since next week is the last week of enrichment classes, we are inviting parents to attend classes with your enrichment students. You will have the opportunity to see what your student has been working on all semester! Please see the parent visitation schedule below. Come to the office entrance of the elementary school and we will tell you where to go from there. Also, since we will more than likely have no school Monday and Tuesday, we are going to move forward with the “plan B” for parents visiting enrichment classes with their students. Below is a copy of the message that I sent to families earlier this week.
If we are out of school Monday, all of the enrichment classes that are scheduled for Monday will be held on the following Monday (Dec 17). Classes scheduled on Wednesday (Dec 12) and Thursday (Dec 13) will still take place this week at the scheduled time, since we will most likely be in school. Let me know if you have any questions! Stay warm!
Kind regards,
Latia Boney
