Voyager Academy Middle School News, May 12, 2019

Dear VAMS Families,
What a great week at the middle school!  We had terrific Project Celebrations by our 7th graders and our 8th graders.  The students shared their Passion Projects and all were fantastic!  It was obvious students were able to select their topic by their enthusiasm during their presentations.  Great job by all!

Spring Sports
We also celebrated the participants of our spring sports by hosting our Sports’ Celebration on Thursday evening.  Our softball, baseball, tennis, and soccer teams had terrific seasons. Our girls’ soccer team is regular season champions and tournament champions!  Congratulations to all athletes!

Donations
Several of you asked if we are still collecting donations for one of our families.  We will collect through Friday, May 17. Thanks to all of you who have helped with this needed drive.

Upcoming Celebrations
We have 2 weeks of school before summer vacation!  During these two weeks we have reading, math, and 8th grade science EOGs.   We also have our Awards’ Celebration and our National Junior Honor Society Induction.

EOGs
On Wednesday we have our Reading EOG and on Thursday we have our math EOG.  We need students to come to school rested and ready to do their BEST! We also need them on time as we begin testing at 8:40.  Once the teacher begins reading the directions, a tardy student may not enter the class. Thanks for helping by getting your child/children to school on time.  I know the tardy bell is 8:30 but it would be helpful to have all students in the building no later than 8:20.

HALL MONITORS NEEDED
This year we do not need proctors for EOG testing.  The Superintendent of Public Instruction for the state of North Carolina has eliminated the need for proctors.  Voyager Middle School would like to have hall monitors as we have found hall monitors to be most helpful. We need 8 monitors on Wednesday and 8 monitors on Thursday.  Please email me if you are available on one or both of the days.  We would need you from 8:30 until 12:00. You may bring a book to read if you would like!
Thanks!!!!
