Hope you are all well and excited about the fall break. I know the kids and staff are excited to have a break and to come back to school refreshed and ready to go.
Busy Week: We have had a busy week at the elementary school. Our second graders completed their field trips to Ninth Street and Bull City Market.
The Kindergarteners graduated from ABC Boot Camp and strutted their letters in the fashion show for parents and guests. They were so cute and everyone enjoyed the event. After the fashion show, the parents and students stood in the hallways as the Kindergarteners paraded by highlighting letters from A-Z. We were all so proud of them. Thanks to the K teachers and assistants for a great job. Mrs. Roberts was MC and added to the event with her commentating. We also thank the PE teachers for sharing their space and Mrs. Meckes and Hofmann for playing music and assisting as needed.
On Thursday and Friday the third graders went on a field trip to Duke Gardens. Look forward to the third grade Plant Project at 11:00 on October 25.
Professional Development: Guided Reading for second and third grade teachers. Istation training for K and first grade teachers.
VAES Yearbook Cover Contest
Thank you to all the students who participated in our annual yearbook cover contest. We received so many wonderful pieces of artwork! We will announce our finalists and front cover artist when we return from fall break. We will also send out information on how to order yearbooks after fall break. Thanks again and have a wonderful fall break!
Donation: Physical Education teachers need 5 gallon buckets for their drumming projects. These are sold at Lowe’s and Home Depot for around $4.00 each. They need a class set.
