WHAT IS HAPPENING AT VOYAGER ACADEMY ELEMENTARY?  We are so glad you asked?  mClass assessments are almost complete and our teachers loved being able to connect with their students. Classes are working on their PBL projects and math skills are increasing as teachers focus on NC math standards.

VIRTUAL FALL ASSEMBLY:  You asked for it and we are going to deliver.  The VAES staff is working to create our next virtual fall assembly.  The assembly is scheduled for Friday, October 30 at 8:00 am (instead of the normal morning meeting).  The theme for this event is called, “FALLING IN LOVE WITH BOOKS”.  Mark your calendar now!

VIRTUAL SPIRIT WEEK: We have spirit, yes we do.  We have spirit, how about you?  VAES will be hosting a spirit week October 26-30.  Details will follow, but we wanted you to begin thinking about how you could show your school spirit.

Monday, October 26:  PJ Day (wear your PJ’s to your morning meeting).

Tuesday, October 27:  Essential Workers Day (dress like an essential worker for your morning meeting).

Wednesday, October 28:  Hat Day (wear a crazy hat or your favorite hat to your morning meeting).

Thursday, October 29:  Throwback Thursday (pick your favorite decade and dress up for your morning meeting).

Friday, October 30:  Book Character Day (dress up as your favorite book character for your morning meeting).

FALL BREAK:  Fall break is here! Enjoy this amazing time with your family.  VAES will be closed for students and staff October 12-16.  See you back on October 19!

HIGHLIGHTING KINDERGARTEN AT VAES:  Our kindergarten students are really enjoying getting to know each other and learn about their new school, even virtually.  As part of our Responsive Classroom social curriculum we begin each year creating Hopes & Dreams of what we hope to learn, do or accomplish during the school year and then discuss how we can work together to help everyone achieve their goals.  This year we sent home a cloud to each kindergarten student and asked them to share their dream for this school year by drawing or writing about it.  We received lots of thoughtful responses from our youngest Vikings with a little of everything such as "finding out what is in the human body", "dancing with my classmates", "coming to school in person so I can meet my friends" and even "having a class pet snake"!  Here are some pictures of a few of our friends finished projects.

OFFICE HOURS:  Just a friendly reminder that the VAES staff is here to serve you.  Each teacher and office staff member has office hours set within their weekly schedule to talk with you and to assist you.  If we can help you in any way, please check your teacher’s office hour schedule.
