Hello Middle School Parents,
I hope everyone had a terrific Fall Break and you had the opportunity to have family time. It was great to have time to get housework done! We have completed the first week of the second nine weeks. Wow, the year is moving quickly!
Report Cards
The first quarter ended Friday, Oct. 9. Teachers were asked to have all grades in PowerSchool no later than 4:00 Friday, Oct. 16. Seventh and eighth grade parents, you should receive report cards Friday or Saturday. Fourth, fifth, and sixth grade parents, you should receive report cards Saturday or Monday. If we do not have the correct mailing address, you might not receive the report card.

Say Something Training:
On Friday, October 23rd, Voyager Academy Middle (6th-8th graders) participated in See Something Say Something Training. This program teaches middle and high students, teachers, and administrators how to recognize warning signs and signals, especially within social media, of individuals who may be a threat to themselves or others and Say Something to a trusted adult OR use its anonymous reporting system. The link below provides additional information about the program. https://docs.google.com/document/d/10jTdrq3TrdwlnCV-HahPuwcQfRbyraZq5qrAq91p6Os/edit?usp=sharing
January
Many of you have asked about January’s schedule and plan. Our teams have been talking about how they want January’s teaching and learning process to look. As soon as we complete the plan, we will gladly provide you with information. Make sure you read Mrs. Schollmeyer’s part of the newsletter as I feel she will include some dates that might be of interest to you.
National Junior Honor Society
At the end of the 4th quarter, we determine students who are candidates for the National Junior Honor Society. In order to be considered for NJHS, students must have an average of 95 or higher in quarters one, two, and three. This is determined in 7th grade and based on core subject grades. Students not only demonstrate excellence in the area of scholarship but also service, leadership, character, and citizenship.
Although we have selected the inductees, we have not had the opportunity to have our 2019-2020 induction ceremony. Our Virtual Induction Ceremony will be held Wednesday, Nov. 4 at 5:00. We will send parents of our inductees a zoom link prior to the ceremony. If you have questions, feel free to email me at gjohnson@voyageracademy.net.
From Mrs. Farrish:
If you are interested in being a guest speaker as part of our career talks with students, we need you! We will be scheduling career talks in the very near future. If you are willing to share your educational and/or career journey with interested students, please let us know. Talks will take place over Zoom. Stay tuned for more information. If you already know you are interested, please contact Tonya Farrish at tfarrish@voyageracademy.net
