From the Voyager Academy Managing Director, March 19, 2021

Dear Voyager Community,

It’s hard to believe another week has flown by.  We welcomed back our High School and Middle School students this week and enjoyed seeing all grade levels learning and working on campus together. Thank you to all families for using the Greenlight app which helps speed carline and helps us ensure the health and safety of our campus.

The Viking magic and spirit is alive in our classrooms, hallways, and fields. Our Middle School Science Olympiad team did an excellent job representing Voyager in the regional competition. Our team won 23 medals out of 32 events and qualified for our state tournament.  Award winners are listed below.  We’re so proud of our students and thankful to Kristin Jantz, our volunteers, and teachers for inspiring our future scientists.

The transition to hybrid learning and our safety procedures and protocols have all gone well.  Outlined below is an update on next steps for our K-5 students.

Reopening Update and Transition to Plan A (K-5)

We are planning to transition the kindergarten through 5th grade classes from our current hybrid plan to Plan A effective April 12, 2021 to comply with current law and State Board of education policy.  Plan A is not currently allowed by law for 6th - 12th grade.

Plan A allows for full capacity with minimal social distancing in grades K-5. We understand that this may change what families want for their children when they made their selection earlier this school year when you decided between hybrid or remote for the year. Your child’s teacher in K-5 will be sending out a new enrollment form asking families to make a selection about whether they would like to enroll in Plan A or Remote instruction for the remainder of the year.  The anticipated class sizes by grade are listed in the form. Please understand that these numbers and our class structures could change based on the results of this new Plan A - Remote enrollment survey.

In order for us to plan and be prepared we need your selection by Monday, March 22, 2021.  If you don't respond and our teacher cannot reach you to get an update on your preference, we will keep your child in their current cohort.

Carline Concert Event:

Don’t miss out on all the excitement!! Join us the first ever Carline Concert with performances from Voyager’s talented students and staff.  The event will be held on March 23rd from 5pm – 6pm.

Greenlight App –

REMEMBER TO SET UP YOUR GREENLIGHT ACCOUNT AND CHECK IN EVERYDAY.  THIS WILL BE USED FOR THE HEALTH SCREENING DURING CARLINE.

We have partnered with Duke and Greenlight Ed to complete our daily health screening to ensure our school. Please set up your Greenlight account today and complete the survey daily for each child even while your children are learning remotely.  We will use this data and input to ensure we are ready for reopening safely. The links to set up your account are below.

ACTION NEEDED:  Directions and links to set up your Greenlight Account

Setting up your account is simple.  Select the link below and enter the email address you use to receive Voyager newsletters. Families with multiple children can select any school their children attend.  Once your account is set up you will see all of your children associated with your account and be able to complete the daily health screening for each of them. After you complete your first survey you will see the Greenlight pass cleared indication.  We will have students select that option to show the larger pass during car line for screening along with their temperature check.   Each student will be able to show their Greenlight pass to ensure they are healthy and can attend school.  The app also provides support for families that need access to health care, testing, or additional community resources.  Please select the link below to set up your family account now.

Stay healthy and safe – Practice the 3 W’s

Staying current on all of the health metrics and data is also part of our ongoing process.  As we work together to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, please remind your children about the importance of the 3 W’s (Wear, Wait, & Wash). Wear a mask, practice social distancing by waiting and maintaining a 6-foot space between others, and wash hands frequently to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. Outlined below are some helpful links and resources if you are interested in learning more about the latest data and recommendations.
