Dear Voyager Community,
Our students and staff came back from fall break refreshed and ready to partner on the learning journey during the second quarter. Thank you to our student support team and the parents that participated in the Parent Enrichment night that was held on Wednesday night to discuss the important topics of mental health and bullying. The student support team is seeking parent input on future topics. Please share your ideas and input on their brief survey linked here.
Our athletic teams have had an incredible fall season. The high school women’s tennis team won the TNAC conference championship last week and the high school men’s and women’s XC team won the TNAC conference championship on Tuesday. The high school men’s varsity soccer team remains undefeated and will be celebrating their senior night on Monday night under the lights during the second round of conference play. We are proud of the dedication of our student athletes and celebrate all of their accomplishments. Read the details on the various athletic team updates below and come out to watch the excitement at upcoming playoff games.
Partnering with our community through service is another one of our Viking highlights. High School student, Lauren King partnered with the Red Cross to organize a blood drive on campus today from 8am -2pm. Our high school students take on many service projects to support our school and community and work toward earning a service laureate. Our students also continue to celebrate their Voyager pride during spirit week. Elementary and High School celebrated spirit week before the break and the Middle School spirit week will be held next week.
Mark your calendar to join all of us at the annual PTO Fall Festival held on campus on Friday night, October 29th from 6:30 – 8:30 pm. Parents, teachers and students are working together to bring you a special night of family fun. Athletics
It’s hard to believe that our fall season is already coming to a close! Our middle school and high school volleyball teams have concluded their seasons. JV volleyball closed out with a 3-4 record while varsity had a 2-8 record and lost in the first round of the TNAC conference tournament. Our middle school volleyball team also made it to the conference tournament but exited after the second round, ending their season with a 4-6 record.
Our middle school boys and girls cross country team will travel to their last race of the season as they head up the road to Excelsior Classical Academy for the conference tournament this Friday, October 22. I will update everyone next week on where our team placed!
Speaking of cross country, our high school men’s and women’s team won the TNAC conference championship on Tuesday! Congratulations to Liz Lalor on winning the conference MVP by finishing first in the race. Next stop: Regionals, where our women are currently ranked #1 and our men are ranked #3.
Middle school girls tennis is still in the midst of their season and continues to play well. We can’t wait to see how they will close out their season. Meanwhile, our high school women’s tennis team won the TNAC conference championship last week! Kate Flintom will be headed to individual regionals while Shea Dixon and Katelyn Hutson will compete for regionals in doubles. The team also competed for regional duals and beat North Moore to advance to the second round of regionals where they will host East Columbus on Tuesday, October 26th.
Monday, October 25th will be a big day for our middle school and high school soccer teams. The middle school boys will be hosting Oxford Prep. at 4:30pm in the first round of the TNAC conference tournament. Our varsity men’s team earned a first round bye in the conference tournament and will be hosting either Roxboro Community or Henderson Collegiate on Monday at 7:00pm. Please join us prior to varsity kick off as we recognize our seniors on the team.
Best of luck to all of our remaining teams. Be sure to follow us on Twitter for updates @VAHS_Vikings while our athletic website is currently being updated.
