Dear Voyager Community,
It’s been another exciting and very chilly week on campus. High School students continue to prepare for college and career readiness with a rigorous academic program and multiple clubs, athletics, and arts to enrich their experiences. Students also had the opportunity to take the pre ACT this week to measure their academic readiness. Middle School students are finishing their NC Check Ins and our elementary students are busy preparing for upcoming project celebrations on our community and cultures around the world. We can’t wait for the upcoming 2nd grade cultural parade next week. The OCS students planted hyacinth bulbs in the garden to prepare for a spring flower sale. We look forward to watching them grow and bloom. We’re also very proud of our student athletes that have been competing in the state tournaments. The athletics corner below has all the highlights. Way to go Vikings!
We also have continued our focus on safety and preparation for emergencies. All schools practiced their tornado drill on Monday to ensure that all students and staff know how to respond to a tornado warning. We are very proud of our students for following the directions and procedures during the drill process.
COVID Vaccine Clinic
We are excited to host a COVID Vaccine Clinic this afternoon from 4 pm- 7pm to support our families with the vaccination process. The vaccine clinic will have vaccines and boosters from Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson and Johnson. The new vaccine for children 5 – 11 that was approved for use this week will also be available. The flyer with details was sent out on Thursday to all families. To date we have 69% of our students 12 and up vaccinated and 95% of our staff members vaccinated. Vaccination and masking has allowed us to keep our community safe while learning in person. Vaccination and masking has prevented approximately 744 students that were identified as close contacts from having to quarantine due to a potential exposure to a COVID positive person here at school.
Thank you for another wonderful PTO hosted luncheon for our staff. The team appreciates your generosity and good cooking. Thank you for your continued support and the trust you have in our team to help your child grow and learn to reach their potential. Feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher, building administrator, or student support if we can assist your family in any way. Please review the information below for upcoming events and additional resources.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Fall Sports:
We still have a few of our fall teams competing! Women’s tennis hosted and competed for their first Regional title this past Wednesday. Unfortunately, after a hard fought match we fell just short to Chatham Charter. It was the most successful season in the program’s history! With the team only graduating one senior in 2022, there should be plenty more success for the team ahead.
Men’s soccer continued their success this past week. On Monday we hosted NE Carolina Prep in the first round of the state tournament and won, 11-0. Last night in the second round we hosted Perquimans and won with a score of 8-0. The men’s team will host Hobbton on Monday in the third round of the tournament.
Speaking of winning, both our men’s and women’s cross country teams will be headed to Kernersville this Saturday to compete for a state title. Help me in wishing both teams the best of luck!
Winter Sports:
Our winter teams have all started their practices and are getting ready for their first games, matches, and meets! JV and Varsity men’s basketball will be hosting Durham School of the Arts in the first basketball game of the season on Thursday, November 11th. JV will play at 6pm while varsity will top-off at 7:30pm. Tickets will be $5 at the gate.
Additional Notes:
- A reminder that winter athletes need to return their COVID Surveillance Consent Forms to the middle school or high school front office no later than Thursday, November 11th.
- Current Voyager Academy students can gain free admission to our home athletic events by showing their student ID to the person at the gate. This does not include any NCHSAA state tournament games - all students must pay the listed price for NCHSAA tournament games.
- Any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to email me, jgatcomb@voyageracademy.net

Lunch Program
Help us understand your child's school meal experience! The information you provide is important to know the direction school meals need to take in order to make your experience better. Please answer the following questions only as they apply to meals offered at the schools. Do not answer for food sent from home or for food purchased and delivered to school from local fast food establishments. There is a section of questions that will require your students' input. This survey is geared to help us improve the food item options (not the vendor), the payment system as well as continue to provide healthy and affordable meal options to all Voyager Academy students.
The survey can be found by clicking this link https://forms.gle/
Lunch Program
November’s lunch menus are live and ready to take your orders. We’ve added 3 new menu items this month as well as a special holiday dinner on November 23rd. New to the menu in November… Cheese Pizza, Turkey Hot Dogs and Southwest Beef w/ Corn Chips! Don’t forget to select your students' milk preference (low fat flavored milk or 1% unflavored milk) at check out. Milk is a mandatory component of the meal plan and included in the price.
The lunch ordering rule is a week in advance. You will have until 5pm on Saturday Oct 30th to order for the 1st week of November. We will revert back to the week in advance on Sunday. We recommend parents order for the month , then add funds to your Titan account the week ordered. If you have a negative balance, the system will prompt you to pay before ordering. There is a $2.80 flat fee charged by the bank per deposit online to Titan. (Example: $100 deposit + $2.80 fee = $102.80) m. You can also pay using A check or money order made payable to Voyager Academy. Please include your child's name and id# on the memo line. If you need assistance email foodnutritionservices@
