A big Thank You to Ms. Green and Mrs. Weber for coordinating the induction ceremony for our National Junior Honor Society students.

It was a pleasure to recognize our students. Congratulations to Caroline, Luke, Jake, Joel, Huda, Sophia, Cindy, Taylor, Bernadine, Adriana, Ava, Jackson, McKinley, Joe, Erich, Samantha, James, Anna, Everlyn, Caitlin, Anders, Zoe, Mena, Osric, Mehek, Charis, Eseosa, Whitney, and Bridgett.  Great job!

CARLINE CHANGES:  Beginning Monday, September 19,we will be asking Voyager families to NOT arrive on campus before 3:10 for  the afternoon car line.  We have many cars that arrive 1 hour before the car line begins and are lined up on Ben Franklin.  This causes concern for us as we still have students walking around campus.  The traffic also makes it difficult for emergency vehicles and delivery drivers to arrive on our campus.  Beginning Monday cones will be placed at the entrance of the middle school entrance  drive until 3:10.  Please do not move the cones. The SRO has been instructed to not allow cars to sit and wait on Ben Franklin before the 3:10 time.  We truly feel this will help keep our campus safer and more accessible.  This will also give families much time back as they are not sitting and waiting for the car line to begin.

Dates to Remember

Just a reminder that Thursday, Sept. 22 is a Remote Day.  Students will be provided work by their teachers and the students need to complete the work at home.  This is not a zoom day as teachers will also be busy with work to complete such as a professional development activity.  They will also be preparing for the conferences that are scheduled for Friday, Sept. 23.  Students do not come to school on Friday, Sept. 23.

Playground Update - We are so excited that our middle school playgrounds have added  additional pieces of equipment.  We have added  4 basketball goals with new basketballs, 8 swing seats in addition to the ones we have, 4-Square will be painted on the sidewalk and Hop-Scotch will also be added to the sidewalk.  We are now waiting for mulch. Our new equipment is terrific and it is because of you and the donations you made to our Step It Up fundraiser and it’s coming back.  Our Step It Up campaign was awesome and because of all of you, we will be able to purchase many items to support our students and teachers.

The 22-23 Voyager Parent Activities calendar lists all programs and activities so all families have access to the events and programs offered on campus. The calendar is posted on the school website.

Attendance and Tardies:

Your child/student needs to be in the class by 8:15.  If not, the student will be marked tardy. At 8:15 your student/child will need to enter through the front door and will need to get a tardy pass to take to the homeroom teacher. Please note that classroom instruction begins at 8:15 which means entering the classroom late disrupts the class and the teacher.

We are having way too many tardies.  Please make sure you know the Tardy Policy.  A student is tardy if he or she is not in class by 8:15.

We will begin emailing Tardy Letters and following the process that is stated in the Parent Student Handbook.

If your child/student has more than 3 unexcused absences or more than 3 unexcused tardies you should have received a letter from us.  We really need students in school and on time.

STEP IT UP:  Our fundraising program is going so very well.  Thank you!!  To date, Voyager has made a profit of over $50,000.  We have had so much fun with this program.  Our Day of Awesomeness will be held on Friday, October 7.  This will be a morning filled with fun as ALL students celebrate being a Viking.  We will have numerous inflatable activities for the students to enjoy.  If you are a parent and you would like to volunteer to help at this event, please click on the link below:

Bring Your Own Device:  For the 2022-2023 school year we asked that 6th, 7th, and 8th graders Bring Their Own Device to School.

BYOD stands for “Bring Your Own Device”. It is a strategy for providing personal computing in business and education where the end user (employee, student), as opposed to the organization, provides, owns, and maintains his/her own device. It is typical in universities and colleges, and is gaining in popularity in K-12 education and businesses.

If you have questions, feel free to contact me. I will respond as soon as possible. Gwen
