Kicking Cancer 5K

Voyager Academy High School is excited to announce that the Second Annual Kicking Cancer 5K will be held on October 22nd, in Hardscrabble, at 9am. The kicking cancer 5k started from a desire to raise awareness for cancer in the Voyager Academy community as well as to support those who have battled or are still battling Cancer at the school. Last year we raised more than $7,700. We had 115 racers and many amazing volunteers. This year's 5K will be in memory of Ms. Laura McGhinnis (2022) and Coach Pete Shankle (2019) who lost their battles with cancer. Both were amazing teachers who had a strong impact on the Voyager community. We are keeping their legacy at Voyager alive through this donation in honor of all their contributions to the school. We will be making a donation to the American Cancer Society in honor of both Ms. McGhinnis and Coach Shankle. The rest of the money will be going to Ms. McGhinnis's children to help them through this time of transition.

Stay Up To The Minute On How Your VAHS Student Is Doing In Each Class

As you know, VAHS uses the learning management system called, Canvas. Learning management systems are used widely in high schools and colleges/universities around the world. Students use Canvas to access course materials, manage an assignment calendar, submit assignments including homework, quizzes, tests, and projects, communicate with teachers, and collaborate with their peers. Canvas is also a multimedia platform, allowing for many different methods of instruction. All grades are posted on Canvas.

One of the great features of Canvas is one that enables a parent/guardian to stay up to the minute with a student’s progress and participation in a class, as a “Parent Observer.” As a Parent Observer, you can also receive email notifications about grades and assignments.

Please click here for instructions on how to log in
as a parent observer on your student’s Canvas account.
