Alumni Corner: Former Vikings Run Basketball Camp in Alaskan Village
Basketball coach Mike Huff and former Voyager basketball players Blake Buchanan ('18) and Jaylen Segers ('19) spent the last week of July running basketball camps in Kotlik, AK, a remote village on the far west coast of Alaska. Kotlik is a small village accessible only by plane or boa, and the town has no roads - only a boardwalk that residents use to walk, bike, or ride 4-wheelers. Blake, Jaylen, and Coach Huff and his former players worked with elementary students every morning, followed by middle schoolers in the afternoons and high schoolers in the evening. It was an incredible opportunity to experience a unique culture, make new friends, and celebrate a shared love for basketball.
