The Senior Breakfast Awards Ceremony And The Class Of 2025 On Parade
We had another memorable Senior Breakfast Awards Ceremony on Wednesday. Parents were present as Seniors received academic and character awards from each department, honor societies were recognized, scholarship earners were congratulated, and more… As is tradition, the event was culminated by a class photo and a triumphant parade past the elementary and middle schools. We send a huge ‘thank you’ to Jill O'Kane (our School Counselor) for coordinating this wonderful event, as she does every year.
Also recognized were the 40 students to have attended Voyager Academy since kindergarten – the first class to attend all 13 years at Voyager Academy.

“Unlocking Science For Knowledgeable Youth” A Non Profit Founded By VAHS Alumni Comes To VAHS
USKY is a non-profit founded by 3 VAHS class of ‘23 alumni currently attending UNC Chapel Hill: Kaymille Sherman, Samara Williams, Umar Chaudhry.
It is an initiative to provide STEM/research opportunities and exposure to high school students.
For the first session at VAHS (April 7th), students collected data on whether saliva could be used as a reliable biomarker for glucose monitoring. They specifically investigated whether food acidity could have a significant impact on the measurement.
For the second workshop (April 28th), students participated in an escape room-style activity where they reconstructed shredded research posters after a simulated "lab explosion." Through teamwork and problem-solving, students practiced skills such as organizing methods, interpreting results, and communicating scientific findings. The activity reinforced the essential steps of building and presenting a research project.

DNA Day Celebration In Biology Class
Mrs. Punt's Biology classes celebrated DNA day in honor of Watson, Crick, AND Franklin last Friday with a guest speaker who led students through extracting DNA from wheat germ (or saliva!). They were also led through a fun skit that had students practicing their skills of DNA Fingerprinting to catch who stole the Voyager mascot!

End-of-Course Exams (N.C. Statewide “EOCs”)
Dismissal process for EOC Exams
EOC exams provide a break approximately every hour. A student may leave at the break, ONLY IF, he/she provides a note or email to the front desk (cmangum@voyageracademy.net) by 8:30am the day of the exam.
Students may leave when the last student in the room completes the test.

2025 AP Exam Schedule
AP exams are standardized tests offered by the College Board at the end of Advanced Placement (AP) courses. These exams are designed to assess a student's mastery of the course material and are often used by colleges and universities to grant students college credit or advanced placement for qualifying scores. Voyager will be administering 9 different AP exams this year.
