From the Voyager Academy Managing Director, April 22, 2018

Dear Viking Families,
Each year we send out climate surveys to measure how we are doing and what we can do to improve. Attached are links for the family surveys. They ask you about your insight into how your children are learning in the classroom. If you have multiple children you can take the survey more than once to represent your different experiences as it asks you what grade your child is in.  our staff will take surveys this week and the students grades 5-12 will also take climate surveys so we can see trends across all stakeholders. Please take a moment of your day to celebrate our program and share feedback for improvement! https://eprovesurveys.advanc-ed.org/surveys/#/action/68058/38245

We are planning some exciting new academic spaces and activities for next year and the middle school needs your help. Ms. McKenna is working on transforming the computer lab into a maker space.  Along with the current computer science courses, students will design, engineer, fabricate, create, build and collaborate. Makerspaces provide students with a place to tinker and develop 21st century thinking skills. In order for the lab to work we need specific resources. Several of the items (listed below) may be at your house and others cost money.
Household Items
Legos, K’nex
Erector sets
small tools - pliers, wire snips, screwdrivers
duct tape
film canisters
pipe cleaners
straws
card stock - plain or colored
paper clips
rubber bands

ANY donation you are willing to provide is appreciated. In addition to the things listed above, I have created a wish list on Amazon. The VAMS Design Makerspace  wish list can be viewed here: http://a.co/h97KiJK. I
If you have any questions about the makerspace, please contact Mrs. McKenna  mmckenna@voyageracademy.net

This week we are proud to recognize all our outstanding teachers in our celebration Tuesday evening which often serves as a reminder of what we are here for, which is to provide your children with the best education they can get!
