From the Voyager Academy Managing Director, May 20, 2018

Dear Viking Families,

Lending Library
EXPO is pleased to announce the start of a parent & teacher lending library to provide resources on ways to raise, support, and educate children with different abilities. The lending library will be housed upstairs in the Hock House, and already has books to be donated about differentiating in the classroom, educating gifted students, parenting resilient children, etc. Parents and teachers can be added to the library system to allow them to check out books. In honor of Ms. Melinda Chambers, Voyager Academy's EC Director, and the important role she has played in the lives and education of so many of our students and children, the EXPO Board is naming the lending library in memory of Ms. Chambers' father. If you would like to make book and/or monetary donations to the lending library, or have any questions, please contact Tracy Pennuto at TKPenn@aol.com.

It’s hard to believe that this is our last week together!  This may have been one of our most successful years ever! Students have made great gains in academics and we have welcomed many into NJHS and NHS to celebrate their efforts. Our sports teams from Middle School through Varsity have moved on through multiple championships, and we saw new programs develop like the Bass Assassins. Our performing arts students continue to shine and bring their talents across the state and nation…even our Science Olympiad teams have competed at the state level and won awards in their teams as well as their spirit. We are so proud of our students’ accomplishments this year!
Don’t forget to join our end of the year celebration coordinated by your amazing PTO.
Join your fellow Vikings at Wheels from 1-4. Tickets are on sale! $8 per skater. We can't wait to see you there!

We wish you a very happy, healthy and fun-filled summer and look forward to seeing you all in a few months again!

Inspiring lifelong learning in every Viking.

Voyager Academy Vision Statement
We, at Voyager, work hard to “inspire lifelong learning in every Viking.” To prepare our students to be career ready, we have recently focused our attention on things like the creation of a Design/Maker Space, lessons and activities to encourage more technical Career Pathways, and additional classes in Computer Science and Computer Programming. In order to expand our career ready learning initiatives, we’ve realized that our vision is only attainable with community partnerships.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
We are applying for grants, bringing professionals into the classrooms to discuss their professions, and looking into other Career and Technical Education courses. Do you work for a company that could help? In an effort to strengthen and streamline our partnerships with community organizations, Voyager is piloting a “Partnership Database.”
We encourage you take a look at the form below to see if your company or business could potentially partner with Voyager. The information you provide will ONLY be used to help us align programs, provide letters of support, make referrals and communicate with our building principals, staff, about potential programs available to support their work.

Please contact Marina McKenna at mmckenna@voyageracademy.net with any questions regarding partnership. Thank you for supporting Voyager’s staff and students.

Regards,
Jennifer Lucas, M. ED
