A TEAM:
Competition Team
Our tournament teams are now registered for the competition on April 6th!
--- Open practices to get ready start this week - first practice is Sunday 1/13 from 2pm-5pm in the VAHS common room.
--- This year's contest for the team T shirt logo is OPEN! Go to the A team webpage and submit your logo by Wednesday, January 16th for all teams to vote on this year's shirt.
---K'NEX WHEELS - we need K'Nex wheels to get our teams ready for the Ramp and Roll event. If you have some wheels, please bring them in to practice or the ES, and direct them to Ms. M.
---Keep an eye on the the A team webpage for more info as we get into the practices for this season. GO, VIKINGS, GO!
And it's not too late - we still have a few spots open on the varsity competition team for this season! 4th and 5th graders particularly are welcome to join this team. If you're interested, email Coach Erik Benson.
In-school program
Classes begin this week on Wednesday. Be sure to ask your Ramp & Roll student about K’nex vehicles, your Super Sleuth student about solving crimes with observation and your Sky Quest student about constellations!
B TEAM:
Science Olympiad Showcase
Kudos to all the members of the Science Olympiad B team who participated in the Science Olympiad Showcase at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Science in Raleigh on January 12. It was a great learning experience for everyone!
Regional tournament, March 2
The countdown is on...the regional tournament is on March 2 at Riverside High School. There are SIX official practices before the tournament (Saturdays, 9-12). In addition to regularly scheduled practices, students are encouraged to work on their own outside. Putting in the extra time will take you to the next level on competition day!!!
Varsity Team Updates
--- There is only ONE spot left on the varsity team (grades 7 and 8)!
--- We need still a team of two for Density Lab during Period 1.
--- If you are interested in doing Density Lab AND it fits your schedule AND it won't overload you, please let me know ASAP!
--- Since a lot of you already have a heavy load of events, the best team strategy would be to recruit one more person to give us a full team of 18. This person would compete in Density Lab and could also be an alternate in other events.
JV Team Updates
--- There is still lots of room left on the JV team (open to grades 6-8). Recruit your friends...they will be your future teammates on the varsity team!
