Love to Fish?  Become A VAHS Bass Assassin
The Bass Assassins are looking for students aged 9-18 to join our team and share our passion for fishing. No tackle...no problem!!! We can help you out by providing you with rods, reels and tackle to use on tournament days. This year we will be participating in 10 tournaments around the state with the hopes to send teams to the National/World Finals in Wisconsin. Have a boat or know someone who does and would be willing to give up a Saturday a month mentoring our youth please contact me as we are always in need of boat captains for teams and substitutes when someone is unavailable.

Interested in Robotics?
Please see the message below from Chelsea Shoben, Mentor, AREA 27, FIRST FRC Robotics Team

Dear VAHS Community,

I’m a mentor with a community-based, high school-level robotics team, AREA 27. We compete in the FIRST (https://www.firstinspires.org/robotics/frc) Robotics Competition each year and are currently seeking new students to join our team. As a community-based team, we welcome students from all schooling-types, including but not limited to public, private, charter, and home school.

In preparation for our competition each year, students are mentally and physically engaged in solving problems surrounding physics, computer science, electrical engineering, business, marketing, fundraising, and teamwork. No prior knowledge or experience is expected, just a willingness to learn and have fun.

We would greatly appreciate you sharing this opportunity with your students via this brochure  (click here). We welcome students to join our discord chat if they’d like to ask questions directly to members of the team.

We will also be holding an interest meeting next week and welcome anyone interested in learning more or joining the team to attend.

Address of interest meeting:
140 Science Drive, Gross Hall, Duke University, Durham, NC 27708
*Please park in any ungated ‘Chemistry’ parking spots available on Towerview rd or Circuit dr.

Date: 08/23/2019 (Friday)
Time: 6:00pm-8:00pm

The interest meeting will be hosted by current students of the team. Attendees will have the opportunity to see our last year’s robot in action, ask questions to the current students, and meet the mentors on the team.

Interested parents and students with questions about the team or interest meeting may contact me (Chelsea Shoben shoben.chelsea@gmail.com) or our general email line at (info@area27.org).
We are also open to additional mentors and adding new sponsors. These types of questions are also be directed to (info@area27.org

Thank you and please let me know if you have any questions.

Regards,
Chelsea Shoben
