Voyager Academy Middle School News, Aug. 18, 2019

Dear VAMS Families,
What a smooth opening this has been!  I’ve been very proud of our students and the work they have completed.  I have visited the classrooms and I continue to be amazed by the quality of lessons our teachers provide our students.  Please take a few minutes to have your Viking share what he/she is learning in each of theclasses. I also encourage you to ask your Viking about our Core Values and how he/she displayed confidence, empathy, integrity, reflection, and curiosity this week.

Our morning carline continues to run smoothly and quickly.  I really need ALL students on time as our tardy bell rings at 8:15 and our teachers begin instruction immediately.  Our students who are tardy are at a disadvantage as they are not in the class to hear information and instructions. Please refer to the student handbook to learn more about absences and tardies.    Tardy means you are NOT in the classroom when the 8:15 bell rings.

Our afternoon carline continues to get better.  Hopefully, if you are picking up an elementary student and a middle school student the procedure is getting easier.

If you are ONLY picking up a middle school student, please do not arrive before 3:15.  Remember you come in the entrance off Ben Franklin and loop around the pond.

It is VERY important for you to have your blue card displayed in your car window in order for us to quickly key in the student’s/students’ number.  If you do not have a blue card and/or number, please email me.

Thanks to all of you who signed up to receive my REMIND texts.  I will send the codes again so the remainder of you can sign up to receive important information.

Several of you have either paid for the GoPlaySave book or returned the book.  If you have not paid nor returned the book, please do by Tuesday, August 22. This was a quick fundraiser!

We had 3 great Curriculum Night sessions beginning with 5th grade, followed by 6th grade, and concluding with 4th grade.  I truly appreciate all of you who took time to come back to school to listen to your child’s teacher(s) talk about curriculum, field trips, projects, etc.  I know your teachers appreciated you spending time with them.

Our 8th grade Curriculum Night is Tuesday, Aug. 20 and our 7th grade Curriculum Night is Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 6:00.  Hope to see you at your child’s Curriculum Night. Students do not need to attend.

Our Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for our athletic field is Monday, Aug. 19 at 4:00.  We invite you to come and see the beautiful field and be part of this terrific ceremony!

As always, if you have questions or comments, feel free to share with me.  My email is gjohnson@voyageracademy.net

Enjoy the weekend,

Gwen
